JOHN ALAN JEFFERY (SONNY) 1931 - 2014 Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Selkirk General Hospital. Sonny was born and raised in Woodlands, MB. He was predeceased by his long time partner Berta; mother Ethel and father Mick; brothers, Bob, Arnold, Ron and Lincoln; brother-in-law Jim; and nephew Jeff. He is survived by his only aunt Doreen Whitehill; sisters Donna, Brenda (Les), Peggy (Jim); sisters-in-law Edith and Shirley; many nieces and nephews. Sonny always enjoyed simple things in life and always had a passion for horses. He hauled gravel and farmed until he and Berta got a PMU contract. He always said they were the best years. They both enjoyed showing heavy horses. Maude and Pearl were his pride and joy taking them to various local fairs, where he won many trophies. He also spent a lot of time at horse pulls with brother Ron. After leaving the farm, Oak Park Lodge was home until the last three years where he was a resident at Tudor House in Selkirk. While living there he enjoyed many outings with staff and residents, bingo and parties for all occasions. Visitors were always welcome to his room where music and treats were plentiful. Sonny especially enjoyed his weekly visits from his friend Bob and dog Goldie. To his Tudor House family, thank you so much for your compassion, care, humour and making Sonny's last year enjoyable. A celebration of his life will be on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Woodlands Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tudor House Selkirk or a charity of your choice. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL 204-467-2525 mackhome@mts.net
