JOHN FREDERICK INGRAM It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Frederick Ingram on March 2, 2014 at Riverview Health Centre. Dad will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Earla; children Dianne (Terry), Dale, Doug (Sylvia) and David (Colleen), brother-in-law Al Clark (Joanne), sister-in-law Katie Wall, his grandchildren, Andrew (Ashley), Ashleigh (Peter), Leah, Rebecca, Brett and Brynne as well as many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Mabel Ingram, and his brother Maurice Ingram. Dad was born September 28, 1926 in Winnipeg, and grew up in the North End, attending St. John's Technical School. After graduation he worked at BA Oil, Coca Cola, and then had a long career in Finance at Air Canada, retiring in 1989. Dad married Earla in May 1952, and raised four children in their River Heights home, where they have resided until Dad's passing. Dad enjoyed spending holidays as a child at Lac Lu and Minaki, and then with his family at Red Rock Lake. In his later years, his love of cottage life continued with being able to spend Father's Day and Thanksgiving down at Victoria Beach. Dad had a knack for being able to fix anything and enjoyed the challenge of trying to make something work again. He loved tinkering with all the cars and trucks that Doug and David were restoring. Later on, he became skilled at doing custom upholstery. His work was admired by all. He enjoyed puttering in his garden and golfing with Maurice. Dad's whole life revolved around Earla, his children and grandchildren. His eyes would light up whenever the grandkids came to visit. He was very proud of all their accomplishments and education, and instilled a strong work ethic. He was always so positive and carried this positivity right up until the end. The family would like to thank the Palliative Home Care Team and the staff of 3 East at Riverview for making his final days comfortable. As per Dad's request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • John and I were Air Canada co-workers. I started quite a bit after he did and we did work in different departments. However, when I had to consult with him or sought inter-departmental information, he was always generous with his time and there were many "teachable moments" on his part. He was well liked in the company and was missed upon his retirement. I hope it was an enjoyable one. My condolences to his family, Sharon love. - Posted by: sharon love (air canada colleague) on: Mar 18, 2014

  • The passing of Mr. Ingram is sad on his family and friends. Only meeting John this past year, I know he will be fondly thought of, remembered daily, and was dearly loved by his family. My condolences to the Ingram family for their loss. - Posted by: James G Baty (Friend of Dale) on: Mar 11, 2014

  • My childhood spent in my Uncle John's company is as clear to me today as it was 60 years ago. I never saw him scowl, I only saw his smiles. I never heard a negative or judgmental statement leave his mouth, I only heard love and support. He was truly a special human being--the likes of which, I will never see again. He was truly, a magnificent example of a man, and the world was a much better place with him alive. My thoughts and love I, lavishly, express toward his family. I feel their pain, most, directly! Thank you Uncle John for LOVING ME and supporting me--ALWAYS! I miss you! - Posted by: Paul Martin Clark (Nephew!) on: Mar 10, 2014

  • Daniel and I are so sorry for your loss. We know how much your dad meant to you. We wish we weren't so far away at this sad time and can't be there to offer our support. Sending you our love, hugs and prayers. Love Denise and Daniel - Posted by: Denise and Daniel Deben (Friends of Dianne and Terry Boyce) on: Mar 09, 2014

  • We are so saddened to learn of John's passing. He was a lovely man and he and Earla such wonderful neighbours. Family was a priority to him and their circle of love was evident to all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Earla and children. - Posted by: Susan and Brad Rinn & family (Neighbours) on: Mar 08, 2014
