EDWARD HILDERMAN
Date of Passing: Mar 07, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD HILDERMAN Surrounded by the love of his family Ed passed away on March 7, 2014 at the age of 89. Ed's life was one of quiet strength and deep devotion to his family, his church and his work. He married his childhood sweetheart, Emma, in 1944 and proudly celebrated 69 years of marriage last November. His love and caring for his three children and their families was evident on a daily basis as he unconditionally shared his wisdom, his faith and his "builder" expertise. He worked tirelessly in many capacities at Christ Lutheran Church and with a heavy heart accepted its closure this past January. In the last few years Ed's legacy has been encompassed in Luther Home Personal Care Home. Hilderman and Sons Construction Company built Luther Home in 1969 as an outreach mission of Christ Lutheran Church. When Emma became a resident of Luther Home in 2010 Ed moved to the adjoining apartment block in order to continue to support and visit her daily. His final wish was that Emma be well cared for. Ed is survived by his wife Emma, his children and their families, Randy and Janet Hilderman, Ruth and Randy Shrofel, and Jeffrey Hilderman, his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, Tim and Nancy, Brett, Casey, Gordon and Mason Hilderman, Jennifer and Mike, Nicolas and Madeleine LeBlanc, Karin and Colin Adams, Paul and Sharada, and Matthew Shrofel, his siblings and in-laws, Millie Deibert, Robert and Joyce Hilderman, Lydia and Henry Gudz, and many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his daughter- in-law Ruby, five sisters and brothers-in-law, and two nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. K. Saunders and the staff of the 5th Floor Units 1 & 2 at Seven Oaks Hospital, under the direction of Dr. I. Fatoye, for their compassion and considerate care for Ed during these past weeks. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Luther Home, 1081 Andrews St., Winnipeg, R2V 2G9 or any charity of your choice would be a most fitting tribute in memory of Ed. Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Peace Dad, We hold you in our hearts. 204-586-8044

What an amazing, loving man Eddy was. We have many happy memories of him over the years starting with our first meeting him just before Mike and Jenn's wedding in 1995. His love of his family was evident as we saw him over the years at special occasions like baptisms and family get togethers. His boisterous laugh and genuine smile will be truly missed. He will be in our thoughts and prayers as you lay him to rest. Love, Ricki and Louis - Posted by: Ricki and Louis LeBlanc (Friends) on: Mar 12, 2014

I want to extend my sympathy to Mrs. Hilderman and to the family. Mr. Hilderman built our house back in 1978 and I am still living in my home. My husband, Allan Simpson, became friends with "Eddie" while serving on the Board of Directors of Luther Home and formed a close link between Luther Home and Ten Ten Sinclair. Both Allan and I are wheelchair users, so the building of our home had its challenges. But your husband/father rose to the challenge and we have enjoyed our home very much. I still remember when Eddie and Emma visited us soon after we had moved into our new home! Allan died several years ago, but I wanted to pass on this memory to the family.
