OSCAR JOSEPH OLSON January 9, 1934 - March 7, 2014 Surrounded by family, Oscar Olson of Grand Rapids, Manitoba passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. He leaves to mourn his daughters Karen Sandney (Robert), Pam Olson (Don), Debbie (Paul) and Dawn (Raymond); sons Dwayne (Nancy), and Anthony; sisters Florence (Gord), Donalda (Gene); grandchildren: Angela, Bryan, Jonathon, Danny, Gena, Dakota, Frankie, Darci, Eric, Paul, Janelle, Landon, Kaitlyn, Tanner, Nicole, and Maggie; great-grandchildren Cami, Evander, Sophia, Wyatt, and Scarlett, and many nieces and nephews Oscar was predeceased by his wife Marie; his daughter Cindy; parents Albin and Valentine; brothers John, and Louis, and Uncle Walter. Oscar was born and raised in Teulon, Manitoba and moved to Grand Rapids during the hydro development project when he came to work there as an accountant. Oscar had four children Dwayne, Debbie, Dawn and Anthony from his first marriage. He married Marie and they celebrated 52 years together. They had three daughters Karen, Pamela and Cynthia. The love and the pride in all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were there for anyone to see. Oscar ran his own business successfully for many years. He was also was very involved in the community and served as a member of the Town Council, as a charter member of the Grand Rapids Curling Club and as a board member of a number of community businesses. He assisted the community with many other community social and economic development initiatives through his research, accounting and business skills. Oscar demonstrated strength, courage and determination throughout his illness. He nursed his wife Marie until he lost her December 20, 2013 and he goes to join her now. He will be missed by all who knew him. Wake services will be held at the St. Alexander Catholic Hall, March 10 and March 11, 2014 in Grand Rapids, Manitoba. Funeral service will be held at the St. Alexander Catholic Hall on March 12, 2014 with Father Noel Boulanger officiating. Viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will then take place at the St. Alexander Catholic Cemetery. The family invites all who attend to a feast after the funeral.
