MARGARET DOREEN OLIPHANT (nee NICHOLSON) Our beloved Mother, Margaret Oliphant passed away on March 9, 2014, at the Roblin District Health Centre, at the age of 90 years. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Lorne and Edith (nee Henderson) Nicholson, husband Harry, son Bob, baby Davis grandson, brother Ray Nicholson, and brother-in-law, Vern Winfield. She is survived by her children Donna (Bob) Bulow of Winnipeg, Gail (Ab) Davis of Roblin, grandchildren, Heather Davis (Randy Marcino) of Erickson, Kaleigh (Amanda) Davis of Roblin, Erica Bulow and Jeffrey Bulow of Winnipeg, great-grandchildren, Chloe Davis, Claire Davis, Morgan Dobroski (Marcino), sister, Lorna Winfield of Roblin, sister-in-law, Bea Nicholson of Saskatoon, and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was born on February 15, 1924 in Dauphin and was raised on a farm southwest of Dauphin, MB. Following high school graduation, Marg worked at the Dauphin post office. In 1946, she married Harry and enjoyed 44 plus years together raising their three children, Bob, Donna and Gail. In 1954, they uprooted their family from Dauphin to move to Roblin to take over the ownership and operation of the Roblin Review. Marg and Harry worked side by side for 33 years in the newspaper business. Dad as publisher and Mom as editor. Marg loved life and approached it with a positive attitude, courageous spirit and a witty sense of humour. The simple things in life and the beauty of nature brought her great joy. In her younger years, she enjoyed golfing, curling, fishing and camping. Mom was an avid gardener, quilter, knitter and baker. Many of us enjoyed her handiwork which she freely shared. Marg was involved in the church throughout her lifetime, taking leadership roles in Sunday School, youth groups, UCW, United Church Quilters, the food group and singing in the choir. Mom enjoyed the times when the family got together to celebrate special occasions and there was an opportunity for a rousing game of cards. She particularly loved the antics of her great-grandchildren. We loved her dearly and will miss her forever. Thanks to the nurses and Doctors Tawfik and Ratwatte at the Roblin District Health Centre for compassionately caring for Mom. A Celebration of Life Service for Margaret will be held at the Knox United Church in Roblin, MB, on March 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Mark Hammond officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roblin Knox United Church (for flowerbeds), Box 156, Roblin, MB R0L 1P0, or the Roblin District Cemetery, Box 172, Roblin, MB R0L 1P0. -30- Notes of Condolence may be sent to the Oliphant family by visiting Nairn - Chyz Funeral Home Entrusted With Arrangements Roblin, MB (204) 937-2111
