RONALD JOSEPH DESJARLAIS December 20, 1937 - March 11, 2014 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Desjarlais, at the age of 76 years. Ronnie is survived by his wife Thelma, sons Eugene (Natty), Randy (Barb) and daughter Denise (Wayne). He was also blessed with seven beautiful grandchildren Danielle, Brighton, Jared, Jillian, Ethan, Jack and Sydney (Baby). Ron is also survived by his siblings Harold (Beatrice), Jack (Alice), George (Sandra), Irene, Esther, Shirley (Pete), Connie (Brian) and Anne (Bob). He is also survived by his father-in law Lawrence Monkman, and mom's siblings Peter (Helen), Hector (Pauline), Paul (Carole), Doreen (Rick), Edward (Joyce), Elvis (Julie), Wayne and Benjamin. He will be missed by his numerous nieces and nephews as well. Dad was born on the family farm on December 20, 1937. He was fortunate enough to have plenty of siblings and cousins nearby to ensure that he had a partner for any shenanigans / hijacks he could think of or willingly follow. Plenty of tales were told over the years about life at the quarry, hunting the back forty, most of these tales would start out somewhat innocently but often were embellished to entertain others. He had great friends and accepted everyone as they were which made him the wonderful man he was. Dad had a diverse and colourful life. He drove trucks, worked in meat packing plants, logger, trapper, ice fisherman, farmer, school bus driver, handi-van driver and professional golfer (well...in his mind anyways). He was a fun loving man who will always be remembered for his cheeky retorts and lively banter. Even as his health was failing he would often say he was okay and at his worst he would try to assure us with a smile. The family would like to thank the Seven Oaks Dialysis team for the compassionate care that they provided over the last seven years. The home care team that was with us for the last four months and our mom, Thelma who was my Dad's champion. She showed us the true meaning of love and sacrifice through her devoted care of our father. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba. Reception to follow.
