MARGARET (RITA) ADELA DRUMMOND
Born: Jul 04, 1937
Date of Passing: Mar 10, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET (RITA) ADELA DRUMMOND July 4, 1937 - March 10, 2014 With a broken heart, I announce that my amazing mother passed away at the age of 76, after suffering a stroke two days earlier. Mum took her final breath at 5:40 a.m. while I held her hand. Surrounded by the love of Warren and I, she looked beautiful and at peace. As her only child, I am devastated to have to say goodbye to the most influential person in my life. The bond that we shared was like no other. Forever I will cherish and hold onto the memories of the times we spent together, too numerous to mention - walking me down the aisle, planting flowers in my backyard, drinks at The Keg, spa dates, Christmas time, and our trip to Maui last April. Mum absolutely loved every minute of that trip! Watching the sea turtles and whales, walks on the beach, dinner at Duke's, and just being together. In passing, Mum is reunited with my Dad, Jimmy. They never stopped loving each other. Finally, they are together. I would like to thank the compassionate staff at the Grace Hospital who took such wonderful care of mum. Thanks also to Msgr. Comeault and Heather from OLPH. Thanks to all our family and friends for your support and love. Finally to my rock Warren, I could never have managed this without you. Mum didn't want a service and cremation has taken place. A party to celebrate mum's life will be held on March 22, 2014. If desired, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or The Spence Street Thrift Shop. I know that a gift in my mum's name would "warm the cockles of her wee Scottish heart". I love you, Mum. Sweet dreams.

I have not seen my cousin Rita for many years, but we renewed our relationship and since that time many letters and phone calls have brought us close again. We had wonderful conversations about times past and present. I loved her sense of humour and we laughed often. I will miss those times, but cherish the times we had together. On behalf of the 11:00 a.m. choir members at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish we offer our deepest sympathies on the loss of Rita. We thoroughly enjoyed singing with her in the choir. She was such a bubbly personality. She showed through her heart the love of the Lord. We will miss her. She had come back to choir for a "wee" bit and we were so pleased she did. May you and your family find solace and comfort in the Lord during these difficult days ahead. Remember she is watching over you "like a beacon of light". God Bless! I worked with Rita at the CIBC. We had fun hanging out after work sometimes, and the subject always turned to her beloved daughter. She was so in love with you and her heart was full. I loved her sense of humor, her smile and her wonderful accent. I have not seen her for years, but I thought of Rita often. My condolences to you as you walk through this difficult time. May you have peace and joy as you remember your mom...she was very special! - Posted by: Maxine Gacek (old friend) on: Mar 21, 2014
