Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAM COHEN With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Sam Cohen on February 28, 2014 at Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 90 years. Sam was born April 10, 1923 to Nathan and Elizabeth Cohen, who predeceased him in 1982 and 1993 respectively. Sam grew up in the city's north end where he attended David Livingstone and St. John's Technical Schools. During the Second World War Dad served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Leading Aircraftsman and was honourably discharged at war's end. Dad was employed by Canadian Pacific Railway for 42 years and was a master of the metalworking trades. In retirement, he loved to reminisce about the railway, the steel shop and especially the era of steam-powered locomotives. He also enjoyed reading, keeping up with current events and watching TV. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Evelyn, sons Robert (Sandy) and Bernard and grandchildren Rhianna and Alyssa. Services were held March 2, 2014 at Congregation Etz Chayim with interment at Bnay Abraham Cemetery. Our special thanks to Cantor Tracy Kasner Greaves. Pallbearers were Edward Cantor, Ryan Cantor, Sam Kravtsov, Perry Kimelman, David Alpert and Howard Jesierski. Shiva was observed at 88 Ambassador Row. We are grateful for Dad's long life, but sorry we didn't have more time with him. He will remain forever in our hearts and memories.
