DAVID LOVE It is with profound sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of David George Love, on Sunday, March 9, 2014. David was born in Winnipeg on August 12, 1945, and was the eldest child of George and Irene Love. He was predeceased by his father in 2004; his mother in 2008 and his stepmother Pat, in January of this year. David will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 44 years, June; sons, Noel and Christian, daughters-in-law Jenny and Sonia; grandchildren Cole, Zoey, Amelie, and stepgrandson Timothy. His grandchildren were the love of his life. He will also be missed by his sisters, Georgie (Tom), Penny (Brian) and Michele (Paul), his mother-in-law Kay, his sister-in-law Karen (Steve), stepsister Linda (Mike) and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. David grew up in East St. Paul, where his first job was as a constable for the East Kildonan Police Department. From there, David had many adventures taking his wife June along with him. In 1984, David and June packed up the boys and left for Toronto to become Salvation Army Officers. They spent six years in Toronto and it was through the Salvation Army that David learned all about addictions. But no training was necessary in his profound quest in being of help to anyone he could reach out to. They left Toronto and returned to Winnipeg to continue their life adventure. He ran his own company, Clean & Sober and was able to help many people. He had also worked in Rockwood Institution and Stony Mountain Penitentiary and believed that everyone deserved a chance at getting life right. He was a bigger than life man who was kind, generous, and had many words of wisdom. He belonged to many organizations; but his crowning achievement was when he became Grand Master for the Grand Lodge of Manitoba, 2009 to 2010. He was also a member of the Khartum Shrine. His Masonic family was of utmost importance to him. David loved working with people but also enjoyed quiet time with June. They loved going for car rides (June drove) and going out for dinner. As a Christian man, he believed in the power of God and the power of prayer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Masonic Temple on Corydon and Osborne Street. In lieu of flowers, please make an "In Memory of" donation to the United Way of Winnipeg or a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (29 entries)

  • I worked with David at Stony Mountain and Rockwood Institutions in the early 90s. I enjoyed our working relationship and always had interesting conversations with him especially in regards to human behaviour. Even after I moved to Edmonton I would try and drop by his office, when I was in the city, just to catch up and grab a quick coffee. Rest in Peace David knowing that you helped many people. - Posted by: Michael J Prendergast (Colleague) on: Jun 17, 2018

  • Sending our sincerest condolences to the family. David & June were kind enough to attend a small gathering we had a year ago at the sudden passing of our friend Gerry. David gave us his business card and I realized he was located in the the same building as I work, Fort Garry Place. We'd sometimes see each other in the restaurant, where a group of us do the crossword puzzle at morning coffee, and I sometimes go there for lunch. I'd sit with Mr Love and he was so interesting to chat with and get to know. (I told him that his smile reminded me of Della Reese from Touched by an Angel!) At any rate, heaven has gained a new bright shining star. May peace and blessings be with his family. - Posted by: Darlene Overby (friend) on: Mar 24, 2014
