CATHERINE ELIZABETH MURRAY (nee CHRISTIANSEN) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Catherine who lost her courageous battle with cancer on March 20, 2014. Catherine was predeceased by her loving and adoring husband Jack, sister Anne Finnson and four brothers Smitty, Eddie (Claire), Bob (Leona) and George (Eileen); niece Christine, nephew Finnur Finnson and granddaughter Brittany Murray. Cathy leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Leanne Frostiak (David), son Neil Murray (Rhonda), six grandchildren Michael, Jeffrey, Douglas and Heather Frostiak, Ryan and Lindsay Murray, great-grandchildren Rhylan and Madden, sisters-in-law Clair, Leona and Myrtle McInnis, many nieces, nephews and friends including Diane Zyblock whom mom was very close with. Catherine was born on April 14, 1930, in Selkirk, MB, to Nancy and Helgi Christiansen. Mom could light up a room with her big smile, laughter and her great sense of humour and wit. Mom loved her sports and fishing where she was the "Queen" Angler. After dad died in 1992, Mom spent every summer at David and Leanne's Keystone Lodge where mom's passion for fishing was reborn. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk. Special thanks to the medical and nursing staff of the Surgery Ward at the Selkirk and District General Hospital - you are all awesome. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Selkirk and District General Hospital, Box 5000, Selkirk, MB, R1A, 2M2.
