Left to remember David is his wife Cynthia; son Darren; daughter Dana (Paul) Augst; grandchildren Brooke and Kalynn; brother Rick (Pat) Dorward; and many family members and friends. Greeting him in Heaven is his son Daniel and parents Conway and Maxime Dorward. David was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 8, 1945 and lived his life there. He was a psychiatric nurse for many years working in various nursing homes. He was an active member on the board of directors for the Daniel Lee Dorward Compassionate Fund for Sick Kids, and volunteered at the Aviation Museum. David was a gentle soul who had a wonderful sense of humour, and easily found joy in the surroundings of his loved ones. He especially enjoyed his time together with his granddaughters. On Wednesday, March 26, 2014 David's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff on the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for their amazing care and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Dad's memory to the Daniel Lee Dorward Compassionate Fund for Sick Kids. Cheques to be made payable to Health Sciences Centre in trust and mailed to 263-3336 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, R3K 2H9. Although I only met David a few times, I admired his strength. He was a very quiet, kind and gentle person. I know he will be missed, and it grieves my heart that he had to leave so soon. May you all keep his memory alive in your hearts and minds, and be there for each other. - Posted by: Kim Ellison (friend of Cyndy) on: Mar 27, 2014

I grew up with David and Rick. Many happy summers spent camping at Blue Lake with "Auntie" Maxine and "Uncle" Con . They were old friends of my parents. Happy times. Unfortunately I'm unable to attend the service on Wednesday but my thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Carol Gunzel nee Alexander (Family friend) on: Mar 25, 2014

There are so many stories... too many to recount lol I will always remember when Dave moved back to St James, right behind me so Dana and I could continue playing Crib and Spite & Malice even on his weekends LOL. We spent so many nights there having drinks and chatting. He allowed us to be ourselves and gave us wonderful advice. His love for his children was the 1 thing that kept him striving to be a good man. You will be remembered and always loved.
