RUTH (SAMMY) MARSCH (nee GRABOWSKI) 1930 - 2014 After a four year struggle with progressive supra nuclear palsy, Ruth passed peacefully, with her daughter by her side, on Friday, March 21, 2014. Remaining to forever cherish Sammy's memory are daughter Connie (Ken) McConnell and grandsons Scott and Bryan; sons: Ross (Wendy) and step-grandaughter Kerry; Glen, Chris and Wade; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Harold in 2009; as well as her five sisters: Myrtle Pitura, Lillian Fraese, Esther Volrath, Ella Picken and Elsie Steinke. Sammy was born in Winnipeg September 18, 1930 and grew up on the family farm in Brunkild. After her marriage to Harold they lived in Winnipeg where they raised their children. Family and friends were important to Sammy. She loved to entertain whether it be celebrating birthdays, playing cards, back yard picnics or "just because". Food and good times were never in short supply. When not looking after family she loved to devote time to her hobbies. Flower gardening was her passion, as well as sewing, embroidery and quilting. Throughout Sammy's life she enjoyed journaling, reading, bowling and sports. In her later years she and Harold took great pleasure in their Birthday Club get-togethers as well as their Polka Party shenanigans. Sammy will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. With her passing a new generation will carry on where she left off. On Saturday, March 29, 2014 Sammy's Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Brunkild, Manitoba with Pastor Barry Bence, presider. A special thank you to Linda for all her home support for Mom, Wade and Glen, and to Cynthia for doing the little extras, and to all the family and friends that took the time to brighten Mom's day. We gratefully acknowledge the extra help from Glen and the exceptional care Wade provided for Mom. She could not have stayed in her home without you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My condolences to Uncle Harold and Aunt Sammy's family. I stumbled upon a box of Sammy's sewing patterns at a family yard sale and have had great pleasure with them, sewing retro PJ's for my daughter, costumes and recycling in opening a Vintage Sewing pattern shop on Etsy 'stumbleupon'. George and Marlene Marsch's families thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Janice Marsch (Niece) on: Mar 29, 2014
