Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY KOPEC (nee ZAIKOW) November 5, 1930 - March 22, 2014 It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear mom, baba, great-baba, aunt and friend. On March 22, 2014, after a courageous battle with COPD, Mary passed peacefully with her family by her side. Left to cherish with many memories are her children, Perry (Laura), Lori (Lindsay), Cory (Lisa) and Colleen (Larry) and her grand-children Stephanie (Kelly), Teigan, Nicole (Paul), Lauren, Hayley and Jordan, great-grand-daughter Tatum, many nieces and nephew. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Peter, her five brothers and one sister. Mary was energetic and fun-loving. She was an inspiration to all of us and touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Mary had a relentless zest for life and a sense of humour that brought laughter to everyone she met. Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Private interment will be at a later date. I've been thinking of Mary since this summer wondering why I haven't seen her at Shapes Fitness Centre where she has been a member for many years, maintaining her cardio fitness. In the last year she had been struggling increasingly with her breathing and health. She was a lively person who cherished life and who regretted that her body was letting her down. She has finally found her resting place. I met Mary a few years ago and we enjoyed attending a couple of Spirit Call Concerts which her special friend Dianna Renick invited us to enjoy together. Mary was a special lady whom I really enjoyed talking to and listened to many good stories from her as well. She was a real trooper, no matter how she felt health wise, she was always willing to go out and enjoy every minute of the day.
