Len and I were very good friends for a great many years. Work and family prevented us from spending much time together in our later years but I remember him and the time spent together very fondly. He was a kind and generous man and I will miss him greatly. - Posted by: Brian Smith (Friend) on: Jul 25, 2015

It was with much sadness, when I heard of Len's passing. Len (roach) was a friend for life. A guy with a great sense of humor and a good heart. He was the guy who gave us all our nick names including mine, from the Rim, Barnes the sack to Grand sack to the crotch. Len we will miss you always, and you will never be forgotten my friend. My condolences to his family. They will be strong in your absence. We will all reminisce, many times about all the good times. Rest in peace my friend. The last time I saw Len was at the MPE reunion a couple of years ago. Even though we hadn't seen each other for a long time, that didn't matter as Len walked up with a big smile and a hug and the conversation continued as if it were the day before. Rest in Peace my friend in that big Elevator in the sky. To Len's family and friends, I'm very sorry for your loss. Len will be missed by all. - Posted by: Bernice Okaluk (Friend at Manitoba Pool Elevators) on: Mar 31, 2014

We were very sorry to hear of Lenny's passing. We have many fond memories of time spent together in our younger years. Get-togethers with our parents' group of friends, visits to Lenny's house with our dad, and especially the times he was with us at our family cabin are the most memorable. He was a great fishing buddy, and we would happily bait his hook for him. He was always cheerful, easy to talk to and just by being there, made any event extra fun. His smile was infectious and we'll always remember his laugh. Our sincere condolences go out to his family. - Posted by: Tracy and David Morgan (Friends (daughter and son of Ken & Terry)) on: Mar 29, 2014

My family lived across from Lenny for 25 years. We became great friends with him through the years. He was always the sweetest man with a great smile on his face. I will always remember his big waves to me across the street and his visits with us in the backyard in the summer. A wonderful man taken far too soon. Thanks for being the best neighbour Lenny. - Posted by: Whitney Jones (Neighbour for 25 years ) on: Mar 29, 2014

I always looked forward to my visits with Len. Getting to hold him captive beneath the hair cape, while enjoying a very interesting and intriguing conversation every 4-5 weeks. Always a good hour of stories, insights and lots of laughter. Goodness Len-How did you find ALL that out?(I think he missed his calling as a great detective) Len had a Fabulous way of story telling. He really enjoyed investigating what "really" was going on around him. Always had a story..."So Kath, what do you think about this?...So I was...."(and most every perceptive detail was there, carefully not making personal judgement of any)... and then would say at the end bemused- "what do ya think? Pretty crazy, heh?" and would smile that wiry smile. After almost every haircut, an hour later I would faithfully get a call of "Hey Kath ...Just wanted to say thanks", and one more closing sentence to whatever our recent conversation was. It always left me widely smiling. Len was an great listener, cared deeply about his many friends, and had great integrity. It is with great sadness that I extend my condolences to his family and many other close friends. I know I/we will greatly miss such a kind, and caring man. I will keep my candy bowl filled and always think of you! - Posted by: Kathy Sullivan (Len's Hairstylist for past 25 years, Friend) on: Mar 28, 2014

We were very sad to hear of the passing of our good friend. Our sincere condolences go out to his Mom and Dad and Connie and Charlie, and the rest of the family. Len had many, many, friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved to swap stories. These stories involved family, friends and his third love, the grain industry. Len could find humor in almost any situation. Even a golf game. I have many unforgettable memories about Len and his exploits. As I am sure that he would have had about me. A fishing trip to Lake Manitoba narrows comes to mind. It was a cold and windy day and Len decided that his time would be better spent in camp keeping the fire going. Towards mid afternoon, being both bored and getting hungry, he decided to speed up the process of getting supper ready. As we all know, Len was somewhat removed from being a Chef. However upon finding 4 beautiful tenderloin steaks he decided that they needed to be marinated. He proceeded to carefully marinate these steaks with the few ingredients that were present. We arrived back from fishing (3 of us) cold, hungry, thirsty. We started to get things ready for supper. Len then presented us with the 4 tenderloin steaks. We looked on with horror as we realized that they had been marinated in Tabasco Sauce for several hours. They were inedible. We had hamburgers. Len apologized for this for many years. But it made for a good story an enduring memory and many, many good laughs over the years. - Posted by: Ken and Terry Hooper (Lifelong Friends) on: Mar 27, 2014

I was friends with Len all through school and then into our adult lives. We shared so many good times together. I always wanted to spend more time with him but like so many things, time ran out. I will truly miss him. - Posted by: Greg Byrnes (lifelong friend) on: Mar 27, 2014
