MARGARET DEL BIGIO September 6, 1936 March 24, 2014 Margaret passed away peacefully with her family around her after a short stay in the Victoria Hospital. Left to cherish her memories are her husband Rowland, son Martin (Janice) Hamata and their children Dylan, Mitchell and Morgan; daughter Laura (Cliff) Greenfield and their children Robyn (Colby), Devon and Nelson, Sean and Logan; daughter-in-law Diana Hamata (the late David Hamata) and their children Alicia (Robin), Jessica and Christa; great-grandchildren Jillian, Jensen and Jude. Also very dear to Margaret are all her step-children and their families along with numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Gertrude Bowles, brother Ted Bowles, and in 2011, her youngest son David Hamata. Margaret was born in Swan River, MB, the youngest by far of her siblings. She moved to Thunder Bay for her schooling and then moved to Winnipeg and married Gerald Hamata. She held jobs with Co-op Hail, Zellers and Avon but the job that she took most pride in, was raising her three children. After losing her husband suddenly in 1984, she became a long time member and treasurer of the Red Alex Bowling League. Margaret married Alan Del Begio in 1985 and spent some wonderful years with him until he passed. While widowed, she became a volunteer with Children's Hospital but really enjoyed the annual bookmarket. Margaret married Rowland Del Bigio in 1995 and spent the rest of her life with him. Travelling, taking up golf, and family were their past times. In 2010, Margaret was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and although her life changed constantly, she always had a sparkle and a shine that always raised the spirit. She was a determined, elegant, classy lady who loved to her very last breath. A very special thanks to all the Doctors and Nurses in the ICU for all their professional yet compassionate care. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday April 12, 2014 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home at 4000 Portage Avenue at 2:00 p.m. A private interment is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to SMD Foundation at 825 Sherbrook St. or to the Children's Hospital Foundation at 840 Sherbrook. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
