RAYMOND JOSEPH JENKYNS
Date of Passing: Mar 27, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAYMOND JOSEPH JENKYNS Surrounded by family, Ray passed away at home on March 27, 2014 at the great age of 92 years. Dad was born and raised in Virden, Manitoba on the family farm. From 1940 to 1945 Dad served in the R.C.A.F. Bomber Command, as an electrician on the airplanes, in England. He went on to become a Journeyman Electrician, founding J. B. Electric Co. Ltd. which later became Jenkyns Electric. In 1948, he married Marion Effler and they raised five children together, and settled in Charleswood. Dad enjoyed many years as a proud member of the Khartum Motor Patrol, Charleswood Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed curling, travelling, and slow pitch baseball. He loved being at the lake, first at the Whiteshell, then many great summers at the family cottage on Kendall Inlet, Lake of the Woods. The most important thing to him was family, and he took every opportunity to say how proud he was of each and every one of us. Dad was a wonderful role model; to us he was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather we could have had. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Marion, children Mark (Kris), Bob (Brenda), Calvin (Peggy), Susan (Dennis), Dean (Donna), 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, his sister Beth (John) in Surrey, BC, numerous nieces, nephews, sister and brothers-in-law and cousins. A Celebration of Life followed by a reception will be held Wednesday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. My sincere sympathy to you and your family. I am in BC but Kathryn sent me the obit from the paper. This is a hard time for you all, but from one who has been there, with faith it will get easier. He was a great man and it is hard to believe he is gone, when he looked so well the last time I saw him. Hard to believe he was 92. - Posted by: Alene Anderson (friend) on: Apr 01, 2014

On behalf of our family, late Dad, Tom Tapp, mother Marjorie Tapp of Virden, my sister and myself, our deepest sympathy. My dad and Ray were friends for many years growing up together. We were fortunate to meet Ray and Marion at events in Virden in the past few years. There was always a twinkle in Ray's eye recollecting those growing up years with many stories I am sure. May cherished memories bring you comfort at this time. Karen - Posted by: Karen ( Tapp ) Naumiuk (daughter of friend Tom Tapp) on: Apr 01, 2014
