  • Recently, my daughter Shima Clarke told me that a boy in her class googled her name and then up popped a picture of Ruby. The boy said to Shima that this is what she will look like when she is old. Shima replied that that was her grandma Ruby to everyone's shock. This is what brought me to this page that I never knew existed. Myself, my middle is name is Joseph and I was named after Ruby's husband Joe to which I am very honoured. I just want to say that Grandma was very special to me in that she was always real with me. She never put on airs. She was always saying to me things like "go on, go on" whenever I told her tall tales. She also liked to say "holy catz" if she was surprised and or angry. She also secretly liked it when I imitated her saying "holy catz." She used to make us watch the soap operas with hers. Also, we used to love sleeping over at her house on Saturdays and waking up early to watch cartoons. We used to love her baking and the great foods like peas with butter or lemon meringe pie. She also used to take me and my brother to professional wrestling at the Winnipeg area. That was wild. We used to love to ride in her Dodge Dart with her and ask her to step on it! You are missed. • WE HAVE JUST NOW RECIEVED THE NEWS OF RUBY'S PASSING THROUGH A FRIEND IN WINNIPEG AS WE HAVE BEEN IN THE US FOR THE PAST FIVE MONTHS. WE LAST SPOKE TO RUBY PERSONALLY JUST AFTER HER FALL ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO. RUBY WAS ONE OF THE LAST OF THE GREATEST GENERATION WHO SURVIVED THE GREAT DEPRESSION, TWO WORLD WARS AND LIVED TO OBSERVE MORE CHANGES IN THE WORLD THAN ANY OTHER TIME IN HISTORY. RUBY CHANGED THE LIVES OF EVERYONE SHE MET AND FOR THE BETTER. RUBY COULD BE FUNNY IN HER OWN WAY, ALWAYS ON TOP OF THE SITUATION, AND HER HONEST AND COMPASSIONATE SPIRIT INSPIRED ALL OF US TO DO BETTER. WE ALL WILL CERTAINLY MISS HAVING RUBY IN OUR WORLD, AND HER SPIRIT WILL ALWAYS REMAIN IN OUR HEARTS. FROM THE CANDLE BY ANDREW DODDS THE WINDS OF CHANGE ARE BLOWING DAY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME YOUR LIFE WAS LIKE A CANDLE LIGHT BUT DEATH HAS DIMMED YOUR FLAME SO ON WE GO AS BEST WE CAN TO HOPES OF FUTURE GLOWING NOT LOOKING BACK BUT STRAIGHT AHEAD THE WINDS OF CHANGE ARE BLOWING OUR LOVE FOR YOU WILL NEVER CHANGE OF THAT WE KNOW WERE RIGHT AND IN OUR HEARTS FOR EVERMORE YOU CANDLE STILL SHINES BRIGHT. - Posted by: DREW DODDS \ LORRAINE PETTER (GOOD FRIENDS) on: Mar 29, 2014
