PHYLLIS WEBSTER 1921 - 2014 Phyllis Loreen Webster (Gardner), of Swan River, Manitoba, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Personal Care Home in Swan River, Manitoba, at the age of 92 years. Phyllis was born on December 22, 1921 in Virden, Manitoba. Phyllis and her husband lived in Elkhorn, where she received her education. In 1953, her family moved to Glenella to follow her husband's employment as manager of Manco Dairy and Poultry. In 1965, her husband was transferred to Swan River where they spent their remaining years together. Phyllis loved her family and spent several years as a stay at home mother. After spending those important years at home raising her family, she became employed at the Swan River drug store, now known as Pharmasave, for 14 years. Phyllis loved being an active member of her community. She was a life member of the Swan River Ladies Curling Club, especially proud of her eight ender in 1972. Phyllis was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary since 1966 and a member of the Rebekah Lodge since 1946. Phyllis loved to take walks and spend time gardening. She enjoyed nature and the calmness it offered. She enjoyed looking at lovely flowers, butterflies and birds. She enjoyed watching sports on television, especially curling, and she spent countless hours knitting and reading. Phyllis married Harold "Dutch" Lester Webster in May of 1941. Three children were born of this marriage: Harold Wayne (deceased), Arlene Joyce Olynyk (deceased) and James Gardiner. Phyllis is survived by her son Jim Webster of Swan River, five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and two sisters: Francis Leslie and Mary Rowan, of Elkhorn, Manitoba. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, one son, one daughter, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, three grandchildren, her parents, three sisters and four brothers. The Rose A rose may lose its bloom But the fragrance lingers long A bird may fly away Yet we still recall its song So when someone who is loved Departs to join the Lord above, They will live and laugh and Be with us in memories of love. To My Family I go from you gently for it is my time To take the next step In this journey of mine Don't grieve for me long - I've not left you alone For I will be with you In the love that we've known. That love is forever, And some day when it's time You'll join me again On this journey of mine. A memorial service was held from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services on March 31, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Kathy Highmoor officiating. Interment of cremains will take place at a future date in the family burial plot in the Elkhorn Cemetery in Elkhorn, Manitoba. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Community Foundation of Swan Valley or to the Swan River Ladies Legion Auxiliary.
