HENRY ARTHUR MCKAY May 22, 1938 - March 30, 2014 Beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend to many has left us peacefully and is gone to rest. Henry was born in Berens River to George and Marie Louise McKay as the 10th child of 14. He was born into a political family and a family that fished. He grew up fishing with his father and siblings and we often heard him say "I spent 50 years on Lake Winnipeg as a fisherman". Henry, as we lay you to rest, there is no doubt your legacy will live on as you have inspired many of us to continue to stand our ground and to know that it is our ground and that we must stand together to be strong. Henry leaves to mourn, his three children, son Henry McKay Jr., daughters Marie McKay and Glenda Berens, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Surviving are his siblings, Stella McKay, Napoleon McKay, Rene McKay and Jacinta Wiebe will also miss him deeply. Coming from a family of 14, Henry also leaves 100's of cousins, nieces and nephew to morn his passing. Henry was predeceased by his parents George and Marie Louise McKay, brothers and sisters, George, Marie, William, Vincent, Robert, Virginia, Angus, Joseph, Christopher. So, as we, your family and friends, say our farewells and shed a tear, we know it was time for you to leave and end the pain you suffered from cancer. We will miss you and always keep both our love for you and the wisdom you shared with us in our hearts forever to guide us. There is no "good-bye" in our language as we know we will see you again. Funeral to be held on April 3, 2014 at Blood of Life Ministry, 1338 Main Street, Winnipeg, Mb, at 10:30 a.m. with internment at the Brookside Cemetery.
