  • I met Don around the mid 1950s at the Winnipeg Roller Rink. We both worked and skated there and became close friends. I have many fond memories of those times. We both attended Tec-Voc High School and worked as pin setters at the Bowl Arena. I remember that we rarely made it home with our pay because we would stop at the local soda fountain and spend it all. I spent time at their family cottage on Falcon Lake where Don taught me (or tried) to water ski and many evenings were spent playing 31 with his parents and neighbours. Don was in our wedding party and he attended our 25th Anniversay as well. On a more sombre occasion I was a pall bearer for his mother's funeral. Sadly, when Don moved to BC we kind of lost touch, except for the odd e-mail, however, I will always remember Don and the friendship we once had and I will miss him. Evelyn and I offer our most sincere condolences to Don's daughters along with their families, and also to his wife Milli. - Posted by: Jim (Livingston) on: Apr 05, 2014
