BARBARA MARGARET COOKE (nee IRWIN) December 3, 1941 - April 5, 2014 After a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and cancer, it is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our precious wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Riverview Health Centre. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Allan, of 53 years, two daughters Lorraine and Leanne (Lawrence), granddaughters Raya (Justin) and Shaylyn (Joel), great-granddaughter Blakely, and many close family members and friends. Barb was predeceased by her parents Slim and Muriel Irwin, her brother Bill Irwin, and her infant daughter Nicole. Barb had a great gift for the outdoors, she loved her gardens and crafting was her specialty. Her greatest passion was her family, spending quality time with the ones she loved dearly. In accordance to Barb's wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral service will not be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg, MB. Should friends so desire, donations can be made in her memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their kindness and compassion throughout this difficult time. My deepest condolences to the Cooke family at this very sad time. I remember going to the Cooke's for Christmas one year as a kid, what a festive spread put out. Everyone dressed till the nines, I will never forget the hospitality I received. Rest In Peace - Posted by: marney () on: Jun 19, 2014

We have lost one of the best. Barb and her husband Al are godparents to our daughter Tracey. We have so many wonderful memories of the time we lived as neighbours on Troy. I will miss our reminiscing on the phone and our visits when we came back to Winnipeg. I miss you a lot already my friend. Rest in peace until we meet again - Posted by: Rick and Kathy Sontag (Friends) on: Apr 10, 2014

Living in Calgary I didn't see much of Auntie Barb over the past 20+ years. However, on my last return visit in 2010 I got the chance to catch up. Still the same Mom, Auntie, Grandma and wife that I remember. May you rest peacefully now and share your spirit with all of us who are still here. - Posted by: Janis Cooke (Niece) on: Apr 09, 2014

Words cannot express the feeling of sadness I have upon hearing of Barb's passing. I will always remember her laughter and wonderful sense of humor but most of all her love and devotion to her family. My love and prayers to all of you and may the wonderful memories you have of her bring you comfort. Thinking of all of you at this difficult time. - Posted by: Norma Clory (friend and co-worker at Lewiscraft) on: Apr 08, 2014

Many of my happiest childhood memories are filled with time spent with Leanne, Uncle Al and Aunty Barb. She was way more than an aunt to me, she was very much a mother to me and always was there to support me through some very tough times and was there for the best ones too. I am smiling at the thought of you as I write this. I love you. - Posted by: Debbie Hradowy (Family Friend) on: Apr 08, 2014
