Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR J. PANKRATZ, P. Eng September 27, 1936 - April 5, 2014 Peacefully at home, Art passed away with family by his side. Left to mourn are his wife, Alvina of 50 years; children, Charlene, Martin (Karen), Bonnie (Dan); and treasured grandchildren, Heather, Lily, Jackson, Cole, Ryan and Nicholas. Arthur is also survived by his brothers, Pete (Elsie), John (Helen), Henry (Julia) and sister Justina (Gerry). Arthur was preceded by his parents, Johann and Mary, stepmother Marie and sister Lydia Miszczak. Art was born near Justice, MB and moved to Steinbach to run a blacksmith shop with his dad, where he discovered his love of welding and went on to become an international welding engineer. He loved to be surrounded by his family and especially all the grandchildren. In his spare time he would often be found fixing or creating. His regular projects included antique cars and baking bread. Arthur will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the wonderful home care workers who made it possible for Art to be at home with his family. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Art's final retirement party, Friday, April 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Garry MB Church. A private interment will take place in advance of this service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Union Gospel Mission.

We only met Art and Alvin once staying overnight from "Mennonite Your Way" and enjoyed meeting them and visiting together, with them. We are very saddened to hear of Art's passing. May you, Alvina and the family be consoled, as you go through this time of mourning Art's passing.
