JOYCE MEDWID
Born: Nov 14, 1934
Date of Passing: Apr 08, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE MEDWID November 14, 1934 - April 8, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Medwid on April 8, 2014. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1986. Joyce is survived by her son Curtis, daughter-in-law Roseann; son Grant, daughter-in-law Karen; son Robert, daughter-in-law Tamara, as well as three grandchildren: Tiffany (Jeremy), Brent (Frankie) and Laura (Mark); one great-grandson Ashton, and another great-granddaughter on the way. Joyce will be remembered as a caring mother and grandmother. After the passing of her husband she learned to become a very independent lady; learning how to drive, becoming an homeowner. We will always remember the great Sunday dinners she used to love to prepare for the family, she truly loved to cook. Joyce loved talking politics, elections and current events, home and abroad, with her family and friends. Joyce retired from Kelekis restaurant after 40 plus years with many stories of her customers and visiting celebrities that came through the doors. In her later years Joyce became a private person but will be truly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Place who made her comfortable in her final years. As per her final wishes cremation has taken place and no ceremony will be held.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Ms. Medwid was at Ecole Robert H. Smith during Canadian Women's History Month many years ago when I was volunteering in the library. I also delivered a presentation at Stony Mountain Penitentiary on the impact that persons with an (ID) intellectual disability make in our society. - Posted by: Philip (No relation) on: Nov 25, 2021

Saddened to hear of Joyce's passing. We lost contact with her just over two years ago, but, until then we shared yearly cards and phone calls. Wayne has great memories of her and your Dad when you were all a young family. He especially remembers how Joyce had to learn to cook Ukrainian food the Medwid way :-) She sounds like she was a pretty wonderful mom! Wishing each of you all the best!
