SUZANNE CHAPUT On March 26, 2014, Suzanne Maria Chaput of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre Hospital with Gary Pike, her life partner, by her side. She was 54 years old. Born October 29, 1959, in Ste. Anne, Manitoba, the tenth child of Alice (née Charrière) and Camille Chaput, both deceased, she will be remembered by her ten sisters and brothers: Maria (Louis), André (Thérèse), Maurice (friend Diane), Hubert (Joan), Louise (Claude), Roger (Georgette), Lucien (Monique), Gérald (Gerry), Alice (Ron) and Clément (Myrna); Gary's mother Mary Agnes Pike (born Curran) and sisters: Valerie (Michael) and Beverlie (David) as well as over 30 nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Also left behind, richer and sadder for having known Suzanne, is her shelter-rescue friend Nicki, who like family and friends, will remain perplexed at the incomprehension of it all. A celebration of Suzanne's life was held in St. John's. Scattering of the ashes in Newfoundland and in Manitoba will occur at a later date. Donations in Suzanne's memory may be made to the Cancer Society.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Suzanne was my roommate in Ottawa as well as my bridesmaid - a very dear friend she was. We lost touch with distance and time. I just wanted to see how she was doing as my son was planning a trip to the rock. Thank you Gary for being there when she needed you the most! God bless.   • Nous envoyons nos sincères sympathies à Gary, tout la famille Chaput et tout les amies de Suzanne présent et passés. Nous avons connus Suzanne depuis la maternelle en 1965?? Suzanne était très intelligente et aventureuse. André avait rencontré Suzanne par chance a l’hôtel Prince de Galles au parc national de Waterton en 1979! C'était la dernière fois que l'un d'entre nous on vu Suzanne.   • Je viens simplement offrir un appui de coeur à cette belle grande famille pour qui le décès de cette petite soeur et tante est presque insupportable.Sa transition à un si jeune age témoigne d'un âme qui a accomplit de grandes choses en peu de temps et qui va continuer de les accompagner comme elle l'a toujours fait.
