WILLIAM KOLODKA It is with great sadness we announce the passing of William "Willie" Kolodka on April 10, 2014 at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 71 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Josephine of 48 years. Left to mourn are his brothers Frank and Ben, sister Helen Yanke, and children Darrell (Anna), Dwayne, Lorrie (Curtis) and six grandchildren. Willie was predeceased by his father Bronislaw Kolodka (1974), mother Anna Kolodka (1987), and sister Mary Szklaruk (1994). Willie was born on July 11, 1942 in Eriksdale, Manitoba. At the age of 17, he moved to Winnipeg and started working at the Misericordia General Hospital for over 30 years as a Chef and later as the Assistant Director of the Dietary Kitchen. After retiring, Willie became the proud and successful owner of the Riviera Restaurant in St. Boniface from 1995 to 2000. His passion throughout his career and personal life was in the meticulous preparation of cuisine with precision ingredients. It was in food that Willie brought his family together - "Food always tastes better with company". Willie's hobbies included fishing, camping, overseeing several new home constructions, gardening, and cheering for his Winnipeg Jets. He was always available to help with the kid's projects including home renovations and even acreage haying at the ripe old age of 69! Willie was diagnosed with untreatable lung cancer in early February 2014, a devastating shock to his entire family and friends. A viewing will take place at Green Acres Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service at Green Acres will take place on April 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB (204) 222-3241. Rest in Peace Dad. We will miss you and you will never be forgotten.
