JUDY PEAKE (nee BORLAND) Surrounded by her family, Judy left us peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2014 following a brief illness at the age of 72 years. Left to deeply miss Judy are her sons Bryan and Riley (Aimee); grandchildren Rosa and Lewis; brother Rick (Heather); and nephews Jonathan (Lisa) and Trevor. She was predeceased by her parents Olga and Lloyd and her Husband Ronald. Judy grew up in Crescentwood and attended Kelvin High School, the University of Winnipeg and the University of British Columbia. She was an outstanding athlete, being named Manitoba's Female Athlete of the Year in 1970, silver medalist in the first ever Canada Summer Games in 1969, winner of four Canadian Junior Tennis Championships, three Canadian Junior Badminton Championships, and 29 Manitoba Tennis Championships. Ron and Judy were long-time residents of St. Vital and members of the Winnipeg Canoe Club where they met. There, they developed, and maintained many friendships over the years. Judy and Ron owned and operated Dominion Antique Auctions and Dominion Estate Sales for most of their married life. During this period they earned the respect of many others in the antique, art, auction and appraisal business. Judy was such a role model for all us tennis brats hanging out at the Canoe Club in the 60's and early 70's. Her calm disciplined manner on the court was not lost on the Juniors watching her play. Her precision and patience as she practiced her ground strokes for hours every day was inspiring. We all wanted to hit the ball like Judy. She was a remarkable athlete and a gracious and kind lady. - Posted by: Sue nee:Parker Quinton (fan) on: Apr 15, 2014

What wonderful memories I have of Judy when we were kids playing tennis. Also knew Judy during our badminton years as well. She certainly was deserving of a place in the Manitoba Tennis Hall of Fame. I am so sorry for her family, Bryan and Riley, Rick and his family. I also knew her dad, Lloyd Borland, who was a wonderful tennis instructor for all the kids at The Wildewood Club. She will be missed by many. My sincere condolences. Joy Knudson (Campbell) - Posted by: Joy Knudson (Campbell) (Tennis friend when we were juniors) on: Apr 14, 2014

Judy. Her trademark glorious smile. Her genuine interest in what a person was saying. Her knack for making a person feel comfortable and accepted. What a lady, Judy was. Classy. Humble. How fortunate I was to have known her. And to experience being on the same squash court with her, a bonus. Judy could place that squash ball wherever she wanted to. Take care, Brian, Riley and family, Rick, Heather and family. Annie Klein - Posted by: Annie Klein (Friend) on: Apr 13, 2014
