KEITHA FAY ALLARD (nee RUTTAN) 1926 - 2014 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Keitha Allard on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the age of 87 years, at Victoria General Hospital. Keitha is survived by daughters Louise Li (Jonathan) of Winnipeg and Suzanne Allard (Peter Thagard) of Edmonton AB; grandchildren Jennifer and Katherine Li, Tyler Thagard; as well by several nieces and nephews in California. She was predeceased by her parents John and Charity Ruttan (Wattam); brother Gordon Kingston Ruttan in 1973, and husband Raymond J. Allard July 29, 2006. On December 16, 1926 Keitha was born in Haileybury, ON. At age 18, she was employed at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Haileybury, ON, then in North Bay, ON at Lou Isaacs & Co. Accountants. Keitha married Raymond Allard on November 11, 1950 in North Bay, ON. She was a stay at home mom who brought up her own children and then began caring for others' children. Keitha was a pioneer in daycare, before daycare was daycare. She enjoyed her role in childcare for many years including caring for her own grandchildren. Mom valued her many friendships and kept in contact with her friends both near and far. Her interests were music, gardening, knitting, and embroidering. Keitha was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church. She was active in the C.W.L. for over 55 years, and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Funeral Liturgy will be Celebrated on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, with Rev. Fr. Kevin Bettens and Deacon Doug Meakin presiding. Many thanks to the staff at Vista Park Lodge where mom resided since June 2013. Thanks to Dr. Kahn, Dr. N. Jain and Dr. M. Jain, home care for the care Mom received. A special thank you to the staff in the Victoria General Hospital Emergency Department who were caring and compassionate with Mom and the family. Thank you to Outreach at Mary, Mother of the Church, Rev. Fr. Kevin Bettens; Deacon Doug Meakin, Bonnie Bonneville, and the many friends who have been a support to the family. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Keitha's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or the Salvation Army, 500 - 55 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Louise, Suzanne and family. Please accept our condolences on the loss of your mom. Keitha-nanny as my kids called her was an outstanding caregiver for the years she had them. Your mom along with your dad those years loved my kids like their own. She was a loving good souled woman who loved what she did. We will never forget her. Again our condolences along with our hugs. - Posted by: Dallas, Lynne, Ryan and Candace Johnston (Friend) on: Apr 24, 2014

  • My heartfelt sympathies and condolences to all the family. Keitha will be significantly missed by all of you. She was one of my favorite patients years ago. She brought a smile to the room and positive energy. She was such a great person. I will miss her Christmas cards and updates - Posted by: Murray MacHutchon (Physiotherapist) on: Apr 18, 2014

  • Dear Louise, Suzanne and families - It is with great sadness that Mom and I learned of Aunt Keitha's passing. During this difficult time please know that you are not alone -- you are in our thoughts, prayers and hearts as we share your sudden loss. Mom (Rachel) will continue to cherish and miss the delightful and frequent telephone conversations she and Aunt Keitha used to share while both were at home. Aunt Keitha's life was a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a wonderful, kind and loving person -- she will be sadly missed by many. May you find comfort in sweet and happy memories of her that will forever remain engraved in our hearts. Our deepest sympathies, Aunt Rachel and Claudette. - Posted by: Rachel and Claudette Allard (Sister in law (Alph's wife) and Niece (Alph's and Rachel' daughter)) on: Apr 16, 2014

  • Louise & Suzanne, My deepest sympathies to you both. I have very fond memories of your Mom as a kind & very caring person & remember visiting when you lived in Noranda & also when your family would visit Haileybury. I am saddened by this news & wish you much courage through this ordeal. My thoughts & prayers are with you both. - Posted by: Joanne Allard (Niece) on: Apr 15, 2014

  • Dear Louise and Suzanne, My sincere condolences to both of you. I have very warm memories of your Mom, as your Mom and Dad were frequent visitors to our home whenever they were driving through. An easy smile and engaging personality, she was a pleasure to visit with. Although we have lost touch over the years and have created our own family units, the memories we nurture of the previous generation is the glue that provides a rich context to our families. I hope that some day our paths will cross. It is certainly something that our parents had wished. Your cousin, Roger - Posted by: Roger Allard (Nephew. Son of Théophile and Thérèse Allard of Haileybury) on: Apr 15, 2014

  • My mother-in-law is Rachel Trimmer (now 91, she was Rachel Allard when she was married to Raymond's brother Wilfred.) My wife is Rachel's daughter, Carol. Thérèse Allard kindly phoned and gave us the sad news that Keitha had passed away. Rachel asked me to send her sympathy and condolences to all the family. Even though she is not in contact with any of you, she gets the Allard family news from Thérèse. Carol and I join Rachel in saying how sad we are with the news about Keitha. Our best wishes to all on your side of the family. Rachel, Carol and Barrie - Posted by: Barrie Kirk (Distant relative) on: Apr 15, 2014
