JAMIE HICKES It is with broken hearts with which we announce the passing of Jamie (Jamison Paul) Hickes. He passed away on the evening of April 15, 2014 surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Jamie was born on November 8, 1950 in Great Falls, Montana to parents John and Roberta Hickes He is survived by his wife and partner in everything Rhonda, daughter Macey and boyfriend Scott Andrade, son Jamie Jr. and girlfriend Patty Procter, daughter Heather Capellen and husband Nico and daughter-in-law Cathy Stadnichuk and husband Darcy, and of course his baby girl Lola. He also leaves behind grandchildren Jerzy and Easton Stadnichuk and Maddi and Alex Capellen. Mourning are his siblings on both sides of the border; in the US he leaves his sister Pam Baker and husband Bill, sister Heidi Hickes, sister Gretchen Hickes, brother Janny Hickes and wife Linda and sister-in-law Carol Hickes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His north of the border family includes in-laws Orla and Jim Gillis, Tannis and Bill Kotschorek, Carla and Don Holyk, Walter Hubatka and Fern Karlicki, and Colleen Gillis and boyfriend Jay. He is also survived by Gwen Toonstra, and Alan and Tracey Gillis. Also missing his cooking will be his nephews and nieces, Clay, Cole, Spencer, Reena, Gage and Reid, along with multitudes of friends too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his parents Doc and Berta Hickes, his sister Susan, his brothers Michael and Bobby, his nephew Myles Hubatka, his nephew Joey Baker, his fishing buddy Kirk Ellis and his beloved springer pups Katy and Gracie. Jamie was a fun loving guy who loved nothing more than whipping up a great meal for his loved ones, flying through the creek on his way to catch a big walleye, walking the beach in Playa Del Carmen with Rhonda and being Macey's biggest fan on the softball fields (and off the field as well). He was his son Hike's best friend and daughter Heather's Big Daddy and will always be remembered with a smile on his face and the strongest heart imaginable. Jamie was the proud owner of Orbit Aircraft Instruments and considered many people in the industry not only customers, but great friends. Jamie and Rhonda grabbed every chance they could to have fun and spend time with family and friends there was never a dull moment and they wouldn't have had it any other way. Rhonda will miss him terribly, as will everyone that had the opportunity to meet him, laugh with him, or eat his amazing food. As tough of a journey as this has proved to have been, we were able to meet many amazing and compassionate health professionals along the way and would like to extend sincere gratitude to a few who truly made a difference, including Megan, Gayle and Theresa. A get together to mourn the loss of Jamie and celebrate the joy of knowing Jamie will be held on Monday April 21, 2014 at Transcona Golf and Country Club from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Donations of remembrance can be made to The CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.

Jamison: the person every man wants to emulate. He was a man's man, but full of compassion and love. He was my mentor, talking me through difficult times and honoring me by being my best man when Rilla and I were married. He devoted thousands of hours of volunteer work and was always involved in the community. Fishing and good food were the cornerstone of his friendships. Rhonda, Macey, Jamie and Heather please accept our condolences. We are fortunate he touched our lives and he will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Robin & Rilla Carlson (Friends) on: Apr 20, 2014
