I have known Anna for many years; 15 years to be exact. Although we didn't keep in contact all too often she was someone every close to my heart. I knew her as I grew up from a teenager and to an adult. She was an amazing summer school teacher. She then turned into someone I worked with side by side in her classroom helping her correct her students' spelling. We quickly became friends and would talk about anything and everything. I remember her famous lessons that she would always teach her students they where A is for Apples and then she would follow up with a lesson on Canada. Mrs. Thai for me was someone I could go to and I would always go to her room to help her out when I was working at summer school. I loved working with her and she always brought a smile to my face. I also remember her teaching me some Vietnamese and telling me that I must visit the country someday. Though I wasn't able to pick up Vietnamese because of her I was introduced to many different types of Asian cultures and she would always listen to my hopes and dreams when I spoke to her. Anna Thai was a very private person, she didn't talk much about her life. She would however talk to me about her daughter all the time and tell me what she was doing and how proud of her she was. Lastly Anna Thai was a very proud person. Even if people didn't see it. She was a person who was so proud to Canadian and Vietnamese. She would show to everyone and her students and I loved that the most about her. Other than English in the summer time she was always teaching her students to be proud of where they came from and the country that they lived in. She will be greatly missed and my heart goes out to her family. - Posted by: Rebecca Patten (Friend and Colleague) on: Jun 30, 2014

I valued her opinions and was cognizant of the the life experiences that made her such a wonderful teacher. It so saddened me to hear of her passing... Juliet... You were her hero, her top priority and the centre if her life... You have done her proud! Please take care... She will be there to guide you... Dear Juliet, I was saddened to hear of the recent loss of your dear Mother. Anna was a dear colleague and very special friend of mine. As you well know, your Mother demonstrated many fine qualities including warmth, care and concern for her students and a deep sense of commitment as a Primany Educator. She will always have a very special place deep in my heart. Juliet, I know that she loved you so very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Anna, Helen and I had taught Grade 1 for a few years at Victoria Albert School. We became instant dear friends. Anna was always resourceful and always there to guide me as I was a brand new teacher when I met her. She was an enthusiastic, caring, gentle and devoted teacher who always had the best interest of her students in mind. I was so happy and thrilled to know that she had moved to Vancouver where I live now after her retirement from teaching in Winnipeg. We had a few outings in Vancouver and she truly enjoyed the warmer weather in Vancouver. Sadly I have lost a dear friend who had helped me so much emotionally and professionally. You will be truly missed from all your colleagues and the teaching field. Please accept my deepest condolences to her family. - Posted by: Jennifer Kim (TEACHING colleague ) on: Apr 26, 2014

Warm, caring, and dedicated are only a few words that describe Anna's passion for teaching children. She was proud of her ethnicity and used this as a teaching tool through the celebration of Chinese/Vietnamese New Year at the school. She was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed by all. My sincerest condolences to her family. - Posted by: Lionel Pang (Colleague) on: Apr 24, 2014
