WILLIAM (BILL) STETINA Born on Mother's Day, May 11, 1924 in Winnipeg, died peacefully at his home on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. Bill was the third of five children born to Wenzel and Ann Stetina. His siblings were Marion, Evelyn, George and Walter. The Stetina family grew up in the North End of Winnipeg. At 17 years of age Bill joined the Canadian Army and served overseas until 1945. Shortly after his return, he met Isobel Marshall who was to become his wife in 1947. The two were married for 53 years until Isobel passed on July 27, 2000. After marriage Bill went back to school and became a physiotherapist. He was first employed at Deer Lodge Hospital then changed to St. Boniface Hospital where he held his position for 37 years until he retired at 65 years of age in 1989. Bill was one of the original members of Legion 141 Fishing Club and enjoyed many summers on Bird Lake with family and friends. He had a love for horse racing which led him to become an owner of several thoroughbreds in the 1970s. In the 1990s he purchased a motor home and enjoyed camping trips to Morden, Manitoba with his family. In later years he enjoyed bus trips down south several times a year with daughter Karen. One of his favorite pastimes was watching sporting events on television with his son Bob. Bill is survived by his daughter Karen Ruml, granddaughter Amber Yorski (Elliott), great-grandsons Dylan and Evan who Bill adored. His son Bob Stetina (Elaine), brother George Stetina (Ruth) and numerous nieces and nephews. Service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. 204-338-7111.
