FRANK (BUTCH) PETROWSKI May 17, 1953 April 21, 2014 Lovingly and sorrowfully, family and friends are sharing memories of the life and courage of Frank (Butch) Petrowski, who passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre. Frank was born in Vita, Manitoba, the son of Charlie and Olga Petrowski. At the age of 14, he moved to Winnipeg with his family, and in 1971, graduated from Fort Richmond Collegiate, where he had made many lifelong friends. He worked in the Produce Department at Safeway for forty years, many of them as Manager, until his recurring battle with cancer caused his early retirement. Frank was predeceased by his father Charlie, sister Kathy, and brother-in-law Wally. Left to cherish his memory are his 97 year old mother, Olga, whom he took care of for many years, his son Christopher, sister Carol, nephew Grant (Brenda and family), niece Jennifer, as well as numerous cousins. Last May, Frank celebrated his 60th birthday in style at Carol's Belair home, where family and friends came from near and far. Together they reminisced and shared precious stories of their adventures with cars, road tripping, golfing, fishing and much more. It was a day to remember! Frank would have loved to enjoy more of those adventures in his retirement years. His unending sense of humor was part of that day, and was evident right to the end of his life. Times were always good for everyone when Frank was around. Among the many friends who will miss their special times with Frank are Dan and Julie (Minneapolis, St. Paul), Fred and Wanda (Vancouver), Bill and Sandy (Barrie). Sincere thanks to cousin Rick, with whom Frank enjoyed his last road trips, to his fishing buddy Ed for his companionship, and to his friend and neighbour Angela, who provided him with comfort and care while he was ill. Special thanks go to Christopher and Carol for their devoted, compassionate care, especially during Frank's final weeks. In accordance with Frank's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Voyage Funeral Home, 204-668-3151

  • Enjoyed many a night out with Frank, going to Jets or Bomber games, playing a round or two of golf on any given day. Most of all I enjoyed Butch's company, his infectious laugh could be heard a mile away. He will be missed by all that knew him, rest in peace my friend, say Hi to Charlie, Kathy and Wally for me. - Posted by: Martin Kos (Friend) on: Apr 28, 2014

  • I will always remember my visits to Vita, and staying at your place, Kathy and I would get into trouble, Butchy was always nice to me. I visited him at Safeway one day surprising him, he never changed, sure looks like Uncle Charlie. Love and fond memories of our childhood. God bless R.I.P. - Posted by: Patti Mondor (1st Cousin Vernon BC) on: Apr 28, 2014
