WINNIFRED (WINNIE) B. OLSON of Bay Terrace, Keewatin May 5, 1920 - April 23, 2014 It is with great sadness the family wishes to announce the sudden passing of Winnifred (Winnie) Olson on April 23, 2014 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital with her family by her side. She leaves to mourn her daughter Shirley (Angelo) Andreosso, Winnipeg; her sons Don (Paulette) of Keewatin, and Garnet (Ginger) of Kenora. She also leaves to mourn eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and grand-kitty Tekha and grand-puppy Loopy. She will be greeted in Heaven by her daughter Evelyn Ross and her granddaughter Barbie Roen, husband Ben Olson, sister Edith, brother Arthur and parents William and Francis Harris. Winnie was born on May 5, 1920 to William and Francis Harris in Minnedosa, MB. She was married to Alfred (Ben) Benhart Olson on November 3, 1941 and began their married life at a Fish Camp on Lake Manitoba where she had to cook for eleven fishermen quite a honeymoon! Winnie and Ben eventually made their way to Kenora where they resided in Norman until Ben's retirement in 1970 when they moved to Falcon Lake and eventually to Steinbach. After Winnie retired she moved to Matlock, MB. In 1998 Winnie moved to Keewatin to be closer to her family and enjoyed a rich and happy retirement at Bay Terrace. Winnie worked at many jobs over the years from camp cook to Head of Housekeeping at the Steinbach Nursing Home. Winnie enjoyed and loved her family and was the keeper of all the family history. She was a great friend and had made many good friends everywhere she lived. She was always quick to make tea and serve cookies for anyone who dropped by. Winnie loved playing yahtzee, cards, and any other game she could get into. Winnie had a great sense of humour and was always ready with a bit of wit and English humor for anyone she met. Winnie was very well liked by everyone. She loved life, never complained and lived life to the fullest and always with a positive attitude. She was a wonderful role model for all who knew her.
