Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Auntie Sal will be missed. She was a loving and caring person and lived life to the fullest. I was often in my Mom's living room over the years listening to her chat with Auntie, her sister, and she would be chuckling or smiling through the whole conversation. These Asmundson brothers and sisters were made of good stuff and loved each other so much despite time and distance. Sending much love to my cousins and their families. - Posted by: Pamela (Mitchell) Henderson (Niece) on: May 10, 2014

  • Auntie Sal had a wonderful smile and laugh. I have very fond memories visiting my cousins at Waskada and Melita. Always lots of laughter. She was a special, warm, loving Auntie and will be missed by all who knew her. I know my cousins have many loving memories to soften their sorrow. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. - Posted by: Lisa Hicks (Niece) on: May 07, 2014

  • Aunty Solveig's low voice, her beautiful smile and tight hugs are a lasting memory. She always cared about others. Even though she had many in her Family, she sent us a beautiful Floral Bed-sheet for our Wedding over 40 years ago. It was such good quality, that it is still on a Duvet in the Guest room. It will never wear out and I think of her kindness and generosity every time I see it. She would take our little children in her arms for hugs, because they sometimes mistook her .... for their own Gramma.......Jonina Mitchell, her Sister. (They sometimes looked like twins and it would really surprise the children to hear a different voice......then they knew !!!) Memories of Waskada were of long, hot summer days, our cousins and animals to play with, the aroma of cakes baking, and picnics with Freshie......and the Box-Phone on the wall with all the different Rings ...... Aunty Sal shared the same hope from the Bible as we have........Everlasting Life in a Paradise on Earth. These Scriptures from the Bible gave her comfort. "This means everlasting life, coming to know you, the only true God and the one you sent forth, Jesus Christ." JOHN 17 :3 Jesus said, "Do not be amazed by this because the hour is coming when all those in the Memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out to a Resurrection......these words are faithful and true. JOHN 5: 28, 29 "God will wipe out every tear from their eyes and Death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore......these words are faithful and true." REVELATION 21: 3, 4 What a wonderful Family reunion that will be ...... enjoying happy times, youth and good health .... forever. - Posted by: John & Cindy (Mitchell) Ozuk (NIECE) on: May 07, 2014

  • Solveig was a neighbour when I was living in Waskada on the Ramsay Farm. I used to ride my horse over on occasion and visit with the kids. t was fun and she always had a snack and good smells coming from the Kitchen. She was a very capable farmer's wife and very involved in the Community. I hadn't seen her in many years but never forgot her. She had a welcoming smile and loads of patience with so many children around. My sincere condolences to the Family. Tanyss - Posted by: Tanyss Ramsay Ward (Cousin) on: May 07, 2014
