ARTHUR FERDINAND (ART) DEMONG Unexpectedly at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family, on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in his 82nd year. Art Demong of Pembroke, ON and formerly of Saskatchewan, loved and cherished father of Patricia Demong of Red Deer, AB and Bernadette (Berni) Demong (Luc Fleurant), Pembroke. Loving grandfather of Erik and Renee Fleurant, and Jason, Jasmine, Jeremiah, Jaymee and Jermaine Robart. Dear brother of Verna Altrogge (Edward) of Humboldt, SK, and the late Tony Demong. Art will always be remembered as a man of integrity and principle. Art worked as a jail supervisor at the Manitoba Youth Centre where he was both respected and admired for his fairness and belief that in all people there was goodness and grace. While working full time an opportunity came to earn a university degree from the University of Ottawa in labour and relations. He was voted in for three terms as first vice president of the Manitoba Government Employees Association that was 25,000 members strong. Friends were invited to join Art's family for a Funeral Mass which was held on Thursday, May 1, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Lourdesview Drive, Pembroke. Final Interment in Saskatchewan. In memory of Art, donations to the Pembroke Regional Hospital MRI Fund would be appreciated.
