PEARL OWSIANYK (nee BASISTY) It is with great sorrow we announce Pearl Owsianyk (nee Basisty) has gone to heaven on May 7, 2014. Pearl was born in Winnipeg, August 1, 1936. She is now dancing with her beloved husband William (Bill) who predeceased her. She leaves to mourn her four sons, Peter (Dawn), Johnny, Richard (Brenda) and Andrew (Krissy). She also has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will miss their Baba. Pearl was the most caring person that you would ever meet and had the biggest heart of anyone we have ever known. She always enjoyed any time you could share with her. We would like to invite all her family, friends and acquaintances to please come share some companionship and refreshments in her honour on May 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Parish, 365 Burrows Ave. We know Pearl would have been so happy that you could make it. Donations in her memory can be made to Siloam Mission. There will be a private service for her interment. A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world But then it flies again And though we wish it could have stayed We feel lucky to have seen it.

  • I was just thinking of you mom! I sure wish you were still here with us, but I know in my heart that you will always be by my side. The sadness hasn't lessened since you left so early, as you should have had many, many more years to enjoy! Not a day goes by without a tender thought or memory of you! I miss you so very much!!!!! - Posted by: Richard Owsianyk (Son) on: Mar 29, 2022

  • I truly grew to love Pearl so much in all the years. She loved life and adventure. Shopping, traveling or bingo and she was in and ready to go. Pearl had a very pure and beautiful heart and was giving always with out an extra thought in the world. I truly miss her. - Posted by: Fran Barber (X daughter in law) on: May 10, 2015

  • My mom, Pearl, was a great mom. Sadly, we cannot wish her a Happy Mother's Day in person this year. She is still in our hearts and will never be forgotten. We would like to thank everyone that visited her or wished her well during her last few days. Those special moments really cheered up and eased her pain. - Posted by: Peter Owsianyk (son) on: May 11, 2014

  • There's a lot of people, friends & family who love my baba dearly. I being one of them. I am the granddaughter to my Baba Pearl Owsianyk. She will always hold a major piece of my heart and I will always cherish every moment we got to have together. I still hope my Baba will be with me on everyday that falls on the calendar, specially days like right now, birthdays, when I eventually get married and be with me on that day as I would have loved that or when I start my own family and have children. I can't imagine how much I'm going to miss her, my heart is sore and wish I had one more chance to have spent a day with her again. I will always love her so very much. I'll always remember our butterfly kisses, her smile & contagious laugh. Her jokes & talking with her for hours and always hearing "so what else is new"? A dozen times. I'll miss our lunch dates and sleep overs. There's so much, & I'll hold it very dear to my heart. She was a very special lady & also the best Baba and friend a granddaughter could have in her life. I thank her for sharing it with me and so many others who had the joy of knowing her. May she rest in peace in no more pain, looking over us. With love Josalyn M.
