Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM HARRISON April 3, 1917 May 14, 2014 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear father, William Harrison, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at age 97 years of age. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Tannis (Orest), son William Jr. (Bill) (partner Eleanor), granddaughter Allyssa, sister Olive Cohen, sister-in-law Mary, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Isadora in August, 2008, his parents and siblings, Steve, John, Walter and Anne. Dad was born in Valley River, MB, on the farm. His mother moved the family to Winnipeg, when he was a child and he attended school in the North End. He worked for Canadian Pacific Railway in various departments for over 30 years. He also did renovation and construction projects for members of his family, including help build his son's home. There was nothing more that Dad enjoyed though than spending time at his garden. He just loved the outdoors. He would spend hours there just about every day during gardening season, much to the frustration of our mother at times. At harvest time he would leave vegetables for the tenants in his apartment building and everyone knew where they came from. Dad was a kind, generous and compassionate man, always with a smile on his face, possessing a quick wit and warm sense of humour, which everyone enjoyed. He was always available to lend a helping hand which demonstrated his good heartedness. His family came first, only after his devotion and love for our mother. He was a truly great man in the humblest sense of the word. He taught his children well by example, teaching the rewards of hard work and of cherishing friendships. The family would like to thank the staff at Parkview Place and especially everyone at Concordia Place Personal Care Home, third floor, where he spent his last days for their devoted and compassionate care of our father. We cannot thank you enough. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. Happy trails Dad, until we meet again. We will always love you.

I met Bill and Wuzzie many years ago as we lived next door to Bill's brother, John. He was a wonderful man, and I thought very fondly of him. Rest in Peace Bill. Reunited with your dear wife. - Posted by: Peggy Simpkins (Friend) on: May 26, 2014

How well I remember your wonderful father! I especially remember biking to your house on Perth to visit. And how handy he was. He was kind enough to install backsplash in my kitchen and had the patience to let my son, then about 3, sit on the counter to help. He also removed part of a wall for me and the first thing he did was to come in, knock a hole in the wall with the hammer and then said "there, now we can start". Your parents were such good friends to mine, it really is the end of an era. Sincere condolences to all of you.
