EDWARD MCCARTHY September 25, 1933 - May 13, 2014 It is with infinite sadness that we announce the passing of Edward McCarthy at the Victoria Hospital. His last months were spent fighting pancreatic cancer. He leaves his loving wife of 52 years, Gail, and son Brian, daughter Deanne, son-in-law Peter Boychuk and granddaughters, Gillian and Kelsey, to cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Larry, Jerry, Don and Joe. Also left to mourn are his sisters Rosaleen, Sheila, and Maureen as well as his sister-in-law, Anna, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed grew up in St. James and attended St. Paul's High School where he took part in several sports, including football. He played hockey from his youth to "old-timers" league. In later life he enjoyed golf with friends. After working at CBC as a Lighting & Maintenance Technician for 32 years, Ed took great pleasure in his years of retirement with Gail, especially winters in Tucson. At his request, no funeral service will be held but a private family ceremony will take place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare.
