GEORGE ELMER ROBINSON Our Dad peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the age of 87 years. Dad was the last of 11 children to pass on and a chapter in the Robinson family has come to an end. In our immediate family Dad was predeceased by his daughter Kim and his wife Molly. Immediate surviving family members include Debbie, Lawrence, Julie, Jenny, Tony, John, Meg, Jane and Cole. Dad was born in Winnipeg on July 11, 1926. He had a tough upbringing but made his way out of poverty with his athleticism and signed with the New York Rangers in 1946. His best years were with the Rangers American Hockey League team the New Haven Ramblers. Our Dad was a kind man and would offer a helping hand to most. He freely passed on his love of hockey to the community of Thompson where he was affectionately known as Mr. Hockey. He was a natural born coach and helped hundreds of young hockey players develop their skills, flying out or travelling by bombardier to remote northern communities to run hockey schools in the 60's and 70's We will remember him for his kind-hearted nature and his fierce determination. Love you Dad! There will be a private service out at Wallace Lake in the summer, a place that Dad loved so much! If you wish to pass on your condolences please e-mail them to his son Lawrence (Larry) Robinson at bridgesgolfcourse@mymts.net In compliance with George's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
