Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHANNA ELISABETH OUDENAAR (JOYCE) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and wife Joyce. She passed on Monday, May 19, 2014, peacefully in the arms of her love just one day after they celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. After suffering a long illness we are so happy that God granted her last wishes and she died quietly at home in her little house. Joyce was born May 4, 1939 in Vianen, Holland to Arie and Anna Pruiksma. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband John; children Marja, Mieke (Frank) and Andy (Lori); grandchildren Elizabeth (Jeff), Marina, Hannah, Morgan and great granddaughter Rebecca; sisters Marriet (Theo) and Matje (Wim) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family in both Toronto and in Holland. She will also be remembered fondly by countless young adults who she took care of as children who knew her as "Oma". The last ten years of her life were marred with ongoing illness. However, despite the deterioration of her body and abilities her joyful spirit and faith seldom wavered. She often commented that even if her body would no longer allow her to help she could still pray. We wish to extend our love and gratitude to many people who helped our dear mother through her long illness. The care provided by the staff on 5E at St. Boniface Hospital was exceptional. Mom was often in and out of hospital and was greeted and treated like royalty when there. Our thanks to Dr. Monteiro who provided so much more than just medical care, to the GNF family who provided food, fellowship, prayer and music throughout mom's long illness. A very special thank you to Kelly Jean Surber who provided daily care and companionship. Kelly Jean took care of Joyce's every need; we never worried when she was with her. Joyce was "her lady" and she took very good care of her. We have reserved a special thank you for Gayle Hutchinson. Gayle started as a respite worker but as a fellow "Thunder Bayer" Gayle and mom had so much in common they quickly became the best of friends and came to love each other very much. Over the last few months, our family could not have functioned or survived without Gayle's assistance. Gayle, we will be eternally grateful for your love and inexhaustible help. There is a special place in our hearts for you and you will forever remain part of our family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba Memorial service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Good News Fellowship Church, 891 St. Mary's Road. I only had one opportunity to meet Joyce, but I will always remember her. It was a few days before Christmas and Andy, Hannah, Morgan, my children and I went to visit Joyce at St. B after delivering some hampers for the cheer board. We sang her a couple of Christmas carols and even though we could tell she was suffering, she had a smile on her face the whole time! She was a sweet woman who reminded me of my own grandma who had the same strong faith in Christ and deep love for her family that was evident in Joyce. I could tell she was a strong woman and a wonderful mother...I have the pleasure of working with her son and she raised him to be a wonderful person. May you rest in peace. - Posted by: Jenn () on: May 22, 2014

Oma, thank you for all your love and guidance when each of us needed it. We are all deeply sorry to have you leave us here on earth, but I am glad that your suffering is now at its end. May you rest in peace for all eternity. My condolences to all of her family including Elizabeth, Marina, and Maddie. Sincerely Jasmine, Labell, and Jim - Posted by: Jasmine and family (One of the young adults she took care of as a child) on: May 22, 2014
