DAVID (ROSS) RICHARDSON David "Ross" Richardson passed away after a long battle with cancer on May 22, 2014 at the age of 66. He went peacefully, in the comfort of his home in Clear Lake, MB, with his wife Judy by his side. Ross was born on April 11, 1948 in Selkirk, MB and grew up in Brandon, MB. This is where "by the luck of the draw," he met Judy, the love of his life, when picking her for his high school curling team. After their marriage on July 10, 1971, Ross' employment with the R.C.M.P. took Judy and Ross to Winnipeg, MB. He enjoyed his 33 year career with the R.C.M.P. and the many friends he made along the way. While he was passionate about his career, he was a true family man at heart. Ross built their cottage at Clear Lake, MB during his first battle with cancer 17 years ago. This is where he spent happy summer days on the golf course and winter days on the cross country ski trails with friends. While he enjoyed his bonspieling years with friends, in retirement, he fell in love with wintering in Florida. Here, he traded in his curling broom for golf clubs, a tennis racket and bike rides along the beach (often complimented with a cold brew with friends). From a young age, Ross was the life of the party. He was a jokester who loved to dance, entertain, and always brought the best out in people. Even during his toughest times he still put others needs ahead of his own, forever the gentlemen. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his wife Judy, son Michael, daughter Jennifer (Shawnessey), brother Brian (Kay), and sister Anna (Biagio). A celebration of Ross' life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ross may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Cancer Services," 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com Arrangements are in care of Brockie Donovan Funeral & Cremation Services, Brandon, (204) 727-0694.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)
Judy, Michael and Jennifer - I was so sorry to hear of Ross' passing. He was such a pleasure to deal with at work. Always had that big smile on his face. When we moved onto Mount Auburn Bay, he was quick to welcome us to the neighbourhood and offer up Jen's services as a babysitter. I'm glad to hear that he enjoyed his retirement and spending time with his much beloved family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Angie Kaufmann ((RCMP employee and former neighbour)) on: Jun 02, 2014
Ross was a great mentor and taught me the best quote "Today is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday and all is well". I still have this quote hanging in my cubicle. Thank you Ross for giving me an ear and guidance when I needed it. You will be missed. - Posted by: James O'Neil () on: May 26, 2014
I knew and worked with Ross for many years albeit from across the country. Ross was always a pleasure to work with. I was lucky to have had a couple of opportunities to meet him in person. My condolences to Judy, Michael, Jennifer and family and friends. David Thompson, RCMP - Posted by: David Thompson (RCMP colleague) on: May 26, 2014
Ross was part of Insp. Gresham's Winnipeg Network Service team in early 80's. I was a summer student and he and team took me as one of their own. They were the reason I joined and have worked in the Informatics/CIO. His sense of humour and fun spirit will be missed by all of us. - Posted by: Su Tan Ly (Summer student and colleague ) on: May 26, 2014
