DOROTHY EFFIE KUPSKAY Dorothy Effie Kupskay, 90, of Winnipeg, MB, died peacefully in her sleep on January 30, 2014, at Concordia Place Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, MB. Born February 9, 1923, in Portage La Prairie, MB, she was predeceased by her parents, Metro and Thelma (Strauski) Kokis, sister Florence Petri, sister-in-law Mary Koltek, brothers-in-law John Petri, John Kupskay, David Yates, and William Koltek, stepson-in-law Ken Vallentgoed, and her husband of 41 years, Michael Kupskay. Dorothy was a wonderful, warm and caring mother and wife who loved to prepare delicious meals that included traditional Ukrainian fare as well as her "experiments" with all kinds of new recipes. Like her own Mother, she was an avid seamstress who enjoyed creating apparel for herself and family members. In her younger years, spending time "at the beach" was a highlight. Throughout her long life Dorothy enjoyed travelling throughout Canada, the US, and abroad to Japan and to Hawaii, where she spent many winters with her late husband Michael. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Betty Kupskay (James Glasgow), and stepdaughter Lynn Vallentgoed, sisters-in-law Stephanie Kupskay and Jean Yates, as well as her stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Concordia Place Personal Care Home staff who took such excellent care of Dorothy during her final years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Health Sciences Centre Foundation, "Hope Project to Revitalize GD6" MS-107, 820 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3A 1R9, 204-787-2022. The Best Mother Ever!
