ROBERT WILLIAM COOK December 13, 1930 - May 23, 2014 With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our dad, Bob Cook at the Red River Personal Care Home on May 23, 2014. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Shirley Cook, father and mother and many brothers and sisters throughout Canada. Left to mourn are his children Thom (Doris), Jerry (Brenda), Carol (Tom); his sister Joan Higgins and brothers Jim Cook and Richard Cook; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to the staff of Red River for the care and love given to our father in his time there. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come With Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, slowly fade away, Although we loved you dearly, we would not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

  • Carol, I am very sorry for your loss. It must be very difficult to have lost both parents in such a short time. My sincere condolences to you and your family. - Posted by: Glenda Dickin (Friend) on: May 27, 2014

  • Dear Thom & Doris, Gerry & Brenda, Carol & Tom and family, Much love goes out to your families in this time of sorrow! Mom and Dad are having a wonderful reunion. Looking down, watching over all of you and keeping you safe, while enjoying no sickness and clear minds. Playing cards, visiting friends and family - all whom we miss dearly! We can imagine Bob working in his wood shop or doing a stain glass piece with perfection. Memories: We looked forward to going to Sandy Hook on the weekend and being all-together. We had so much fun working together. Terry and I learning so much from Uncle Bob while helping build the cookhouse. Thanks for being a great teacher and super Uncle. We love fire pits to this day, thanks to Uncle Bob for making a huge fire pit in middle of all the family properties. It was a great way to finish the day being all-together, sitting around listen to great music, dancing the night away. What wonderful memories! - Posted by: Enid and Terry Cooper ( Niece and Nephew) on: May 27, 2014

  • Bob, A VERY SPECIAL BROTHER. Remembering the strong affection you had for Tom, Jerry and Carol and the guidance you so lovingly showed. I admired the care you exemplified with them and also with me. A brother like you, how honoured I feel to have experienced that. Loved and Forever remembered..... • I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, " There she goes! " Gone where? Gone from my sight . . . that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, " There she goes! " there are other eyes watching her coming . . . and other voices ready to take up the glad shout . . . " Here she comes! " - Posted by: Christine Thibeault (Family friend ) on: May 24, 2014
