MARGARET JANE WOOD (nee WALDIE) With sadness, we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother, on May 15, 2014 in Winnipeg, MB. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, William John (Jack) Wood in 2002. She is survived by her five daughters, Mardith Desjardins (husband Alain), twins Teresa Dovey and Janina Laird (husband Aaron), Kenda Wood, and Alanna Kulshiski (husband Murray). Her grandchildren are Cael Desjardins, Waverley Dovey, Kristyn, Jordan and Chelsea Laird, and Everett and Elicia Kulshiski. Margaret was born a beautiful redhead on November 26, 1926 to William and Edith Waldie in Winnipeg, MB. She attended Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and spent the summers at the family cottage in Winnipeg Beach before marrying Jack on May 30, 1953. She had many occupations during her working career, ending with retirement from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs in 1987. Her main focus in life however, was devoting herself to raising her daughters and enjoying her golden years by spending time with Jack and the grandchildren. Margaret's many interests included her love of sewing, knitting, and handicrafts where she expressed her talent, creativity and especially her love in the many handmade gifts she made. For many years, she enjoyed the companionship from her four-legged friends Russell and Brandy. During retirement, Margaret and Jack enjoyed exploring various locations in the US, highlighted by their trip to Hawaii. Family celebrations were of great importance and her greatest joy was to have family gathered together for Christmas, Easter, and birthdays. Mum's fabulous turkey dinners with the world's best gravy will be missed. Over the last four years Mum lived and was cared for by our sister Alanna and her family. Mardi, Teri, Jan and Kenda would like to express a special thank you to our sister Alanna, brother-in-law Murray and nephew and niece, Everett and Elicia for all the love and care given to our mother over the last years of her life. "A mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take." A family service has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Hemophilia Society, Manitoba Chapter, or the Winnipeg Humane Society would be welcomed. Mum, still miss you so much. I so wish I could take back all the troubles I gave you. When I hear the melodies of the little song birds when I am out walking, I think of you and my heart lifts knowing you are resting peacefully amongst the birds in a lovely garden. I will love you always. Teri - Posted by: Teri Dovey (Daughter) on: Jul 26, 2017

So sorry to hear of your loss Mardi. I remember a lot of the stories you told me about your childhood. Your mother was a wonderful and caring person. Thinking of you, Al and Cael. - Posted by: Pat Vouriot (St. Godard) (Friend) on: May 26, 2014
