MARGOT GARWOOD Margot Garwood passed away suddenly on May 3, 2014 at Chateau Symmes in Gatineau, PQ at the age of 74. Margot was born Margaret Dickinson in Hull, England on April 9, 1940. After her father passing, at the age of five she went to Durham High on a prestigious bank scholarship from seven years old to 17. Margot next trained and worked as an X-ray technologist in Leeds, England where she met and married Dr. Donald Jackson. In 1964 they immigrated to Winnipeg, MB where Margot gave birth to her first child, Johanna in 1965 and her second child Jonathan in 1966. In 1970 and subsequently 1971 she divorced and married Dr. John Garwood, the love of her life. At that time Margot took up golf which was a big part of their married lives. John passed away in 2010 and in 2012 Margot moved to Aylmer, PQ at the request of her daughter and son. Margot suffered from dementia in the last few years of her life first enjoying the company of her son Jonathan in Winnipeg then the company of her daughter, Johanna, son-in-law Benny and granddaughter Sabrina in Gatineau, PQ. She also greatly enjoyed the company of her brother, Fred and his family who lived close-by. Fred, his wife Chantal, their children Alain, Marie and Simon and Marie's children will all greatly miss Margot. Margot will also be missed by her cousin Patricia Close and daughter Alison, John's children; Simon and his wife Judy and their son Mackie; and David and his children Brooke and Blake in Florida. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg on May 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please call Jonathan Garwood at (204) 899-4357 if you have any questions. In lieu of flowers, Johanna and Jonathan request that a donation be made to either The Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba or The Alzheimer's Society.
