NICK NEUMANN
Born: Jun 10, 1933
Date of Passing: May 23, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICK NEUMANN It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our husband, father and grandfather Nick Neumann, on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Nick is survived by his loving wife Justina, daughters Cheryl (Scott), Deb (Stu) and grandchildren Trayton, Cassidy, Mason and Hayden. He is also survived by his one remaining sibling Betty, brothers-in-law, Rod, Gordon (Jennifer), Glen (Lucille) and sisters-in- law Edith, Margaret, Joan, Ruth (Eric) and Wilma as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Nick was born June 10, 1933, to Paul and Eva Neumann, in St. Jean Baptist, Manitoba and was the fourth youngest of 14 children. He married Justina on May 30, 1964 and settled into the home he built himself in Stony Mountain in 1974. Nick drove oil truck for Whiterose Oil before returning to school to obtain his Engineering Tech Diploma from Muskar Engineering Collage. He then secured employment with Cowan Steel Company where he remained for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. Nick was very involved within the community, assisting with the construction of the Stony Mountain Recreation Centre and served 11 years on the board as the Treasurer. He also completed two terms as councillor for the RM of Rockwood, Ward 1. Nick was also a Veteran of the Korean War serving on the front lines. Nick was a family oriented man with the unique ability to make people realize their full potential. He always was the first to offer words of encouragement and support in a positive non-judgemental way. Nick was recognized by many of his nieces and nephews as a "surrogate dad", a role that he took pride in. Uncle Nick always tried to give the best advice and support whenever needed. The family would like to express their thanks to all the doctors and nurses who were involved in Nick's care. Special thanks to the staff of 7 West, the ICU, and chaplaincy at St. Boniface Hospital, who made him comfortable in his final days and for the support they showed to our family during this difficult time. A memorial service will take place at MacKenzie Funeral Home in Stonewall, Manitoba on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. A private interment will follow. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully asks donations in his memory be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL 204-467-2525

Uncle Nick was such a GEM of a man. Most of my younger years I have such very fond memories of his kindness, his laughter and his humour. He was so loved by all who knew him. He had such a genuinely good nature. Easy going and always making fun and teasing. My sister and I loved our Uncle Nick. RIP and hope you meet up with DAD for some good times. Love you!!!!! - Posted by: Patricia MacEachern (Niece (daughter to Nick's brother Ken Neumann)) on: May 26, 2014

I remember Nick, but it is many years ago. Huffnugsthal school near Rosenfeld, Manitoba. I was a year older than Nick. I remember all of his siblings. Betty and Cec were remembered most. Sorry to hear of your lose. May you and your family find peace within. My husband Gord and I live at Paradise Village, Ste Anne Manitoba, and still in good health. - Posted by: Ida Schwab nee Shimonek (Friend) on: May 26, 2014

I met Nick and Justine a few years ago when my roommate (Cheryl) and I went to Stony Mountain. As I never had been in that area of Manitoba, Nick took me on a tour. We drove around the Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre known for the large concentration of migratory birds. I was fortunate to spend some time with him when they both came to Alberta for a visit. I found Nick to be a generous man and quite proud of not only his house that he meticulously built in Stony but more so of his children and their accomplishments. He always had a kind word and would offer advice whenever needed. He will be missed but will not be forgotten. Many of his traits can been seen in his children and his legacy will be carried on. RIP Nick. - Posted by: George Genereux (Friend) on: May 26, 2014
