ELIZABETH (BETTY) CRAWFORD
Born: Mar 09, 1919
Date of Passing: May 24, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTY) CRAWFORD March 9, 1919 - May 24, 2014 Peacefully, at the Victoria Hospital, with family present, Betty passed into what she called her final deep sleep and into the arms of her loving Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Left to remember Betty's happy smile and upbeat personality are sons Laird (Erma) and Frank (Christian); along with those special people who knew her variously as their adopted "Mom," "Grandma" or just Betty - friends who remained from first meeting her. She was predeceased by husband David in 2003. Betty and David's early years in Pine Falls were interrupted by Dave's service during the Second World War, but continued on with steady work for him at "The Mill," until retirement allowed them to spend winters in Arizona for 11 years. Becoming snowbirds was the result of their first winter of retirement being spent at Bird Lake in their cabin, with no running water and an outhouse up the hill. Talk about a wake-up call! Their home in Pine Falls was replaced by another one in Broadlands, and from there they moved to Winnipeg where they relocated several times to apartments. Betty's funeral service and interment will be at a later date in Calgary, AB, and she will be buried along with her husband Dave. We'd like to thank the doctors and staff at the Victoria Hospital for their caring attention to our mother in her time of need. Flowers are gratefully declined, but for anyone wishing to remember Betty, she was a Victoria Hospital Foundation donor and liked the Siloam Mission. Wojcik's Winnipeg Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Ave., 204-897-4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com A Favourite of Mom's: Remember me when you are walking down a quiet country road or, when you are with Family and old stories are re-told. My life was long and happy, so don't grieve for me today. Just think of me with fondness now and then, in your own way.

I have many wonderful memories of your mom at Bird Lake when I was a little girl. We would go over for a visit and sit at the counter in the kitchen and talk for hours and eat treats. Your mom had so many interesting stories to tell. I remember playing in the yard and always loving the tiger lilies lining the stone wall. I haven't seen her in a very long time but her very friendly smile will always stay with me. We are very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Wendy (Mitchell) on: Jul 24, 2014
