EDWARD HARVEY REDPATH IRVINE
Born: Jan 17, 1929
Date of Passing: May 28, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD HARVEY REDPATH IRVINE January 17, 1929 - May 28, 2014 Peacefully at Victoria Hospital, with his loving wife at his side, Ed passed away on May 28, 2014. Dad was a proud son to Scottish immigrants to Canada. He treasured his Scottish heritage and imparted his traditions to his family. Dad lived a full life and had many accomplishments. He served five years with the RCAF and later 21 years with the St. James Assiniboia Police Department. Dad always considered himself a "police man" his entire life. After leaving the police service he went on to manage the security department for Sears Winnipeg. He was an accomplished golfer and proud to have achieved the elusive hole in one while a member at Breezy Bend Country Club. Dad loved his garden. He spent hours in his yard and up until his passing still spoke about what he was going to plant and how he was going to ensure the rabbits would not eat his forage. He loved his family deeply and placed their needs always ahead of his own. Dad leaves his wife of 55 years Frances, son Ed, daughter-in- law Karlene and his grandchildren Kyla and Rylan. He was so proud of his grandchildren. Also a sister Eva Haddon of Winnipeg, nephews and nieces Bill Haddon, Doug (Jean) Haddon of Winnipeg, Tom (Dana) Irvine, Bill (Carla) Irvine, Lorna (Bob) Wong of British Columbia, and Lynn (Larry) Littman of Saltcoats, SK. Dad wrote down a poem which he carried in his wallet. Perhaps it was his ode to Robbie Burns; "Remember him with a smile, reflect on memories of the happy years, recall to mind the way he spoke and all the things he did and said. So much of him never dies, but lives on after him." Many thanks for the wonderfully sensitive care provided by the Victoria General Hospital, 3rd floor and Winnipeg Home Care Services, especially John and Ghirma. Also a big thank you and hug to all of the wonderful neighbours who have been so generous with their time and assistance. The family greatly declines any flowers. At the families request there will be no formal service but a private family gathering at a later time. www.seasonsfunerals.ca
