Uncle Syd. You were an amazing man to have known. The work you did in my parents home. To the many times I came to Winnipeg to visit. I will never forget you. You never got the chance to meet my entire family of kids but my oldest Violet. One memory I have is the time you came to Hamilton with Kelly and Kelly spent almost the entire summer until something happened to her hand. A door lol. Thank you for being apart of my life. An amazing man to have known and a big wrestling fan & hockey fan. Plus there's the time in 1992 when we went honking when the Jays won the World Series. RIP uncle Syd, truly the best uncle somebody could ever have. - Posted by: Ryan Jaskiewicz () on: May 31, 2014

Our deepest condolences Barb and family on your loss. Sid was employed by me in the early 90's to work on our log cabin, our home and my mom's home. Sid was one of a kind! He spent weeks living with us as we finished our log cottage. To quote Sid "I'm up early 'mom' (that's what he called me), I like my cereal milk heated ... I expect full course meals.... which I provided, big lunches.. and specific salad dressing with his salad! He was quickly one of the family. We adored and admired his work ethic, energy, knowledge and especially the warm and wonderful man he was. He adored his wife Barb and his family, he never stopped talking about how lucky he was and how much he loved all of them. He played cards with my mom, played with my 10 month old daughter and taught my ex-husband Wes everything he could about carpentry. It was a stretch to hire someone, meet them for an hour... then decide to have him live with you through out the summer. My baby daughter and I picked him and his tools up, drove 4 hours to the lake together, I must say I was a bit apprehensive that first day... not for long... it was a great experience knowing and working with him. We continued to hire Sid for odd projects around our home and my mom's. We've never forgotten him and never will. There are people you meet in life that touch you, that become like family, that was definitely Sid. He will be greatly missed and definitely never forgotten. - Posted by: Debbie Kolaski (Coyle) (Friend - Employer) on: May 31, 2014

I remember Uncle Sid as a kind man who always had a smile for us kids in the neighborhood. He and Aunt Babs always welcomed a visit when we came into the city from Domain. He will be sorely missed. R.I.P Uncle Sid, we will miss you dearly. - Posted by: James Smotryc ki (Family friend/Former neighbor) on: May 31, 2014
