Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALLAN ANDREW MCKAY September 2, 1940 - January 5, 2014 Peacefully on January 5, 2014, Allan Andrew McKay left this world. He was predeceased by his mother Catherine McKay nee Fidler on January 5, 1991. He was also predeceased by his Uncles Tom Fidler, a war vet of unknown rank and William Fidler. He was also predeceased by his Aunt Nora Fiddler. He was also predeceased by his Grandmothers Marie Emerise Ferland and Marie Louise Julienne Fidler. He was also predeceased by his brother Wayne McKay in 2011. He leaves to mourn his sister Gladys McKay. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Frances Margaret Rose Spence on October 12, 2008. Allan was given the sacrament of the sick shortly after his stroke and survived for approximately three more years. He was given the sacrament of death at the St. Boniface Hospital. His body was left intact until a mass could be held after which he was cremated. His surviving children plan to bury his ashes in Camperville, Manitoba where his mother and grandmother are buried, at the special Father's Day mass on June 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend. Allan was a journeyman mechanic and it is believed that he started his career in mechanics through an off campus outlet with Keewatin Community College in The Pas, Manitoba. Allan's first job as a mechanic was in Birch River, Manitoba where he also purchased his first home. Allan then moved his family to Swan River, Manitoba where he purchased his second home and worked for Powell Motors in Swan River, Manitoba for 13 years after which he was self employed as a mechanic. Allan joined the Knights of Columbus in Swan River. Allan tried very hard to be active in the new community of Swan River. He enrolled his daughter in catechism. He tried to get his daughter involved in baseball and became the coach for her team the Swan River Flames. In approximately 1985 Allan moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba to play a larger role in the lives of his then adolescent children, Alana Verna Lyn McKay and Allan John McKay. Upon moving to Winnipeg Allan changed careers from mechanic to security guard. He worked briefly for Trojan Security before becoming employed with the Province of Manitoba as a security guard, a job held for close to 30 years until the time of his stroke. Through his second job Allan was able to become a Commissioner of Oaths and a Special Constable. Allan joined the Toastmasters and was able to participate in the funeral services for his first wife, Frances Margaret Rose Spence. Something greatly appreciated by his surviving children. He leaves to mourn his second wife, Charlene Dolan. He leaves to mourn his passing his aforementioned children, Alana Verna Lyn McKay (Ron Mosher) and Allan John McKay (Rachel Lynxleg) and his two grandchildren, Ryan Raymond McKay-Mosher and Cherry Syx Lynxleg.
