TOM HARRISON On April 5, 2014, attended by his beloved wife Allison, Tom Harrison passed away in Toronto General Hospital at the age of 61. Tom grew up in Winnipeg and attended high school at Grant Park High School and the University of Winnipeg Collegiate. He studied Electronic Technology at Red River and after working at Sony Industries for two years he returned to the University of Manitoba to receive his Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical) in 1977. Tom married Allison Andrew in 1975. After university, they moved to the Toronto area where Tom worked as an engineer and where their four children were born. He overcame many challenges in his life including a heart transplant in 1990 related to muscular dystrophy. Tom lived in Listowel another 24 years during which time he helped raise his children, saw his daughters married, and experienced the joy his grandchildren brought him. Even as a teenager, Tom loved to tinker with electrical issues, installing a light remotely in the garage and designing a home burglar alarm. As a youth he spent a lot of time on his uncle's farm in Lockhart, Minnesota. Tom loved playing his guitar and did an uncanny impersonation of Neil Young. Although he loved his life here, he knew, from a near-death experience at the time of his heart transplant, that heaven was a beautiful place, where he would spend eternity with his Saviour, Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by Allison, his children Jessica (Yaniv) Haramati, Grace (Jeff) Pinck, Andrew Harrison and Graeme Harrison, his four grandchildren Nigella, Orrin, Everett and Lior, his mother Janey Harrison, his sisters Irene-Elizabeth Johnson and Patricia (Brian) Maxwell as well as his lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his father, Noel Harrison in 2009.

I met Tom as he couldn’t stay away from Allison my sis when I was about 13 years old old He would be at our house every night after school and weekends. When they married I spent many nights visiting and hanging out and enjoyed laughing singing and watching Brian Turner and Tom play the guitars. They were really really good. Tom remodeled third kitchen did a beautiful job plus he loved his Truck and Visits to the Farm . Miss you Tom I’m very close still to my sis Allison and just waiting to see you again Revelation 21:3,4. Tom, Brian, Lorne, Jim & I played all kinds of games on Beaverbrook in front of our houses - Tag, Baseball, Monkey-in-the-Middle(usually me), football and Hide & Go Seek, over 50 years ago. Whenever we shouted out our "Club Call", whoever was within hearing range would shout it back, no matter if you could see them or not. Rest in Peace Tom, & AHHH - WOOOO - GAAH to Heaven ! - Posted by: Leslie (Childhood Beaverbrook Club Member ) on: Jun 11, 2014

Wonderful memories of Tom and Allison's first visit to B.C. when they were 18 and just out of high school. We had a great time at Englishman River Falls and the huge trees at Cathedral grove, just missed seeing the Gray and Orcas though. Tom's wacky sense of humour always brought us great joy so we will remember his chuckles and twinkling eyes. It was such a bonus to have him with us for so long. Will always picture him in his kilt in his wheelchair dancing with Grace on her wedding day, and wheeling down the aisle with her to give her away. Recall him being so proud of Jessica playing her violin at four, she had stayed up so long to share her music with family visitors from afar. Tom encouraged Allison to go up with us to Tobermory to see Heather when Andrew was just a baby and to Winnipeg when Graeme was just a couple of months old to be with his grandparents" always thoughtful of others Tom was a blessing to all, especially Allison who cherished and loved him deeply. So happy he is with his Heavenly Father now - Posted by: Freda and Jack Reid (Aunt in law) on: Jun 06, 2014

I can't write anything that will do you justice, Daddy, so I won't even try. Thank you for fighting so hard to stay with us for so long. We miss you so much but we are so glad you are safe and healthy again, at long last. It's hard to wait but I know I will see you again. - Posted by: Jessica (daughter) on: Jun 05, 2014

I grew up on the farm near Lockhart where Tom would come & stay with us for the Summer. My brother and I couldn't wait for him to arrive! He was always nice to me, from piggyback rides to singing Neil Young on the back steps on a warm Summer night. Mom treated him like her own, like reminding him to clean up after a long day combining itchy barley. She always made extra spuds because he would usually finish them off after he politely asked if anyone would like more. My Dad and Tom had the best conversations/debates on deep subjects like what is beyond the Milky Way. He once said a time or two how much he liked it on the farm, but no where close to how much we loved HIM & having him come to the farm. So thankful to have know Tom.
